It's taken 40 years, but I just had my first stuck bullet...

I was out a few minutes ago in my backyard plinking range with my CZ 452 Trainer, plinking at a steel spinner target around 25 yards away with some CCI CB's and Augila Super Colibris, the CCI CB's worked just fine, and for the most part, the Super Colibris did too...

the CB's are a *tad* louder than the SC's, the SC's out of the 24" Trainer barrel sound like a Benjamin multipump pellet rifle on 2 pumps, a kind of "click-tink", the CB's are more like a Benjamin on 6 pumps, sort of a "Pop-TING"

the last SC I loaded and fired I heard the click, but no tink on the spinner, so I pulled the bolt, held the muzzle skyward, and sure enough, the bore was dark, clearly a stuck bullet

I grabbed a cleaning rod, and slowly fed it down the barrel from the breech, feeling resistance about 1/4" from the crown, the bullet easily pushed out and dropped to the floor, I ran a boresnake down to clean out the residue, then a proper cleaning rod, the barrel cleaned up fine and was completely undamaged

I knew stuck bullets were always a risk with SC in the 24" Trainer barrel, but I loved how absolutely silent they were, I guess now I'll just keep them for use in the CZ Scout, which has no issues with them, due to the shorter 16" barrel

It's even more important to pay attention to the muzzle report when shooting ultraquiet rounds down a longer barrel, I'd imagine Super Colibris would have much more of a problem in the 28" barrel CZ 452 Ultra Lux....

Maybe I should just get myself a H&R .22 Sportster single for a dedicated ultraquiet round gun, sight it in for the plinking range....

I have had no issues so far. But a clean barrel always helps.

stuck bullet

ive never had a stuck bullet yet.but yesterday i had to remove 4 bullets stuck in the barrel of of my aunts ccw which was a old colt double action revolver. she went out the back door to shoot a possum, she said she heard a lite report and kept shooting but nothing happened to the possum.i tapped them out with a small brass rod and gun shoots fine now, no damage that i could tell.i counseled her to not use cheap bulk wal mart ammo in her ccw gun

I am willing to get that ammo in your aunt's pistol was MANY years old. I have never seen or had a problem with walmart ammo.....chris3

I had my second one last week. First was over 52 years ago and it was a squib load in a Single Six. I trimmed the thorns off a little mesquite limb and pushed it right out and went about my hunting.

The second was little more trouble. One of my 10/22s failed to go completely into battery and the case ruptured. It left the bullet about 8" inches forward of the chamber. I slid a 3/16" brazing rod down the barrel and it tool a few taps with a small hammer to drive it out. I miked the slug because I was curious and it measured a perfect .222" with a ten thousands micrometer.
