... for a 1911 of some kind

I don't have a lot of basics, and I really don't want a lot of "frills"

So, I was looking at the basic mil-spec springfield 1911

I'm wondering if anyone has one, and how do they like it. Once again, something about the 1911 gets me, and it seems that the ones closest to the original intrigue me the most.

So, go ahead, all. Advice please. If you can think of other inexpensive 1911s let me know. I DO like the springfield guarantee tho

2nd the Milspec - I have one and like it a lot.

Some will point you to the entry level Colts, which are slightly more expensive, but also good, from everything I've read.

I also recently purchased a Milspec Springfield. I now have two Springfields. A loaded 1911 and the Milspec. The more I shoot the Milspec the more I like it. The loaded is still my favorite. Just broke in more I guess. I hope the Milspec breaks in as well as the loaded has.

For the price, it is hard to beat. Good luck with your search.

I'm on a quest for a 1911 myself. I've owned 2 (a Colt & a SA). Both were good guns, but were never 'special.' It really comes down to what you're looking for out of this gun.
Good luck on your quest ;)
