I have a Iver Johnson 5 shot .38 special that I have no idea what model it is. I got it in a trade awhile back and had the hammer mounted firing pin repaired to return to working condition. The only markings other than caliber and Iver Johnson's, Fitchburg Mass USA, is J10232. Its a double action, however it doesn't have a swing out cylinder. It has what I assume it bakelite grips, stamped IJ. Also, it has adjustable rear sights. Anyone have an idea? I also have this posted in the revolver section, but was recommeded to put it here as well. I'd put pictures up here as well, but i can't figure out how. Thanks

The number J 10232 is the serial number, but the "J" prefix was assigned to small-frame, top-break revolvers chambered in .32 S&W. These were discontinued right after World War Two. The highest listed number is J 18,550. J 10232 should be a .32 top-break made in 1930

I suspect that so few .38 Special revolvers were made that they used the J- prefix over rather then assign a new letter. If so, the BATF would have fits.
