I'm growing very fond of the "ivory" grips on stainless blackahwks. I think I'd like to pickup two sets . One for my 6.5" single six one for the 4 5/8 blackhawk hawk. I had a set of eagle gunfighters on both and decided that they where too thin for my liking and not a smooth/big enough bottom bevel. So I'm giving them to my dad for his guns.
As of now both the single six and the blackhawk wear the factory laminate and factory walnut grips . I like the feel of the factory grips for the most part but wish they were a little thicker at the top. I do like the big bevel on the bottom because it allows for a comfortable pinky under hold.
So far from the pics I've seen the hogue cowboys fit the bill. I'd like the micarta instead of the plastic ones, but with a little one on the way I have to limit my spending .100 bucks for one set of grips is too steep right now.
I've been eyeing the Altamont bonded ivory grips, but can find any info on how thick they are. If someone could provide input (especially a rear photo of them) I'd appreciate that very much. Since they're only 28 bucks a set and would fill the roll untill I get some custom micartas someday. Thanks. Other suggestions appreciated as well.
