For years I carried OWB, but earlier in '09 I decided to give IWB a try.

Not wanting to spend too much $ in case I didn't care for it, I opted for one of the inexpensive Uncle Mike's neoprene'ish / suede'ish IWB "sleeves." I'm sure you've seen them and they're less than $20 or so.

I found that I really like this carrying method and would like to buy a good quality leather holster. Most likely I'll CCW either an XD 9 or a Sig P250.

Your recommendations will be much appreciated. Typically I like helping to support the smaller businesses vs the mega stores, but am open if needed.

I did a search and found some good stuff, just a bit aged.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Since you asked for a leather holster, and we're messing it up with kydex/leather hybrids, I'll just finish the trifecta and suggest a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC. :) The material isn't the big deal for me (although I DO like the replacable kydex bodies). The main advantage to these type of holsters is that the attachment points (to your belt) aren't stacked on top of the holster itself. This keeps the entire rig much slimmer in profile, more concealable, more adjustable, and more comfortable.

The Milt Sparks VersaMax II is usually considered the benchmark for this design in all-leather IWB holsters, but the wait is always long. Nevertheless, that particular DESIGN is a good one I think.

If you like the design, want leather, and a shorter wait time, I think the UBG Striker or Canute might work for you.

Simply Rugged "Cuda" with inside out straps.

This way if you don't like IWB carry, it still can be used as a fine OWB pancake holster as well.

I have a couple of Simply Rugged's, and use them IWB, and find them to be well made, reasonable money, versitile, and very comfortable.

Rob is great to deal with as well.

Wow - great recommendations: thanks much!

I have a feeling I see some new holsters in my future...probably more than I need, but that's part of the fun!

I have carried a G19/G34 in my CompTac C-Tac for several years and I have been wanting to try one of their Mtacs but dont seem the need for a new holster yet.

Here's a picture of a Simply Rugged holster w/ the inside out straps.

As you can see, it is an excellent OWB AND IWB holster. If you find IWB isn't for you, you will not have wasted your money.

The "Cuda" is designed for semi-autos, and is a slightly different design than this "Sourdough Pancake" Revolver model.

This is with a 4" Colt Python, so it's very capable of concealing a reasonably large gun.

I have a "Cuda" version for my 5" 1911A1, and it works just as well at concealing the pistol, but no pics of that one.

Those are great pictures of your Simply Rugged Sourdough, especially in the "wear" position.

I'm considering getting a Cuda for my 5" 1911. If you could, I would like to see your Cuda worn both inside and outside the waistband.

Can you reholster your Cuda when it is worn inside the waistband with one hand? Does it ride at the same height as your Sourdough?

savit260:

Is that holster from"Simply Rugged"?

EDIT: Nevermind...I scrolled up and read your previous post identifying it (them) as such. The Simply Rugged pancake for my M 15, and the Mika pocket holster for my M 36, are my personal favorites.
