Anyone have any recommendations for a very high-quality IWB holster that uses an easy-on, easy-off clip like this one? (I don't know if that particular one is good, but it's the right idea.)

This would be for a little Kahr PM9 when pocket carry won't work.

I know you already bought a holster, and I just ran across this thread, but I have one of these http://www.imageseek.com/hbeleather/gallery/forsale/protlkahr for my PM9 and it is the easiest on/ off holster that I own. I own other loop holsters, and don't like them at all.
This slips right on and off so easy, and it conceals so well.
Eric makes quality stuff, and I would bet the farm that you would love that versus what you got.
No disrespect to the other holster maker, but I have owned both brands, and there is night and day difference in fit, finish, and comfort.
And to be able to buy a Pro TL with NO wait......... :D

Some holster makers say you can wear a clip-retention holster without a belt, just clipped over your waistband, but I don't recommend this except for short times and distances. Your pant waistband cannot possibly offer any support, and there is nothing for the clip (except for Alessi's "Talon Clip") to hold onto. When you wear a belt, also be sure the lower portion of the clip is firmly hooked under it, or it can slip off when you draw the gun, leaving the holster attached to it.

Clip retention oxymoron

Amen.

But that only happen to other people.

I have a small carry Phoenix 22 and I bought a no name holster for 2 bucks at a flee market and my wife is making me a home made holster out of the pattern of the 2 dollar one. She makes quilts and has the padding and it is being made out of a pair of my old camouflage pants, it will have the clip on it and the best part, it will be one of a kind..:)

I recently asked the same question, For now I'm using a leather Galco clip on that's made to work with a belt. It's comfy, sturdy, but rides low and still has a plastic clip like the Blackhawks... but, it cost me $65, didn't order online because I was on a trip and had to get a replacement quickly. It's for my J-frame though.

I have Blackhawk IWBs with clips that I like very well, the clips are real tight and hold well. I bought a new Don Hume for a J frame at a GS in AZ last month for 5 bucks and it is ok but doesn't seem to have near the spring in the clip.

Haven't kept track of this thread, but one more thing about that Pro TL that maybe some people don't think about. The Pro TL, and the Alessi holsters clip is "offset", or made to be "inline" with the rest of the holster when looked at from the side. Some of the other clip holsters, including HBE's, have the clip stacked on the holster that results in a much bulkier holster, IMO.
I have the Pro TL for my Kahr, and one of HBE's Pro IWB for a Makarov, and that one just feels so much bulkier.
And I have a good belt for my holsters, but I have worn that Pro Tl many times without my belt, and it stayed in place just fine, and I could draw it without the holster coming out.
I know that's not the right way, but it works when I'm in a hurry and don't have my belt on.
