IWI Jericho 941

I've wanted a BE/Jericho since the first time I shot one a long time ago. I have several similar guns (It's basically an offshoot of a CZ-75 clone made by Tanfoglio) and they only make me want one more. It's not just a good gun, it's, IMHO, a great gun. I want one much more than I want a CZ-75.

Jericho 941F, steel frame. Pros: well made, solid, accurate. Good trigger. CZ magazines fit.

Cons: slide rides inside the frame, leaving less slide to grab for cocking. Muzzle-heavy due to full length and bulky dust cover. SA/DA with safety but no decocker, so either you carry cocked-and-locked, or you have to manually lower the hammer on a loaded chamber.

Good gun, but IMHO not a good concealed carry gun.

Like hemiram I had a similar gun to the Jericho 941 that was made by Tanfoglio and assembled elsewhere. Good solid gun that was well made and a solid performer. I would expect the same sort of experience with the Israeli built guns. And looking at IWI's website I see they have the Jericho 941 available in a slightly more compact Mid-size gun along with a polymer frame that cuts down on the overall weight considerably.

If it's like other Tanfoglio-based guns, it can also be carried on the half-cock notch (with or without the safety engaged). It's safe, because of the firing pin block mechanism; doing that shortens trigger pull a bit, and lightens it a hair. (The CZ design won't let you engage the safety when the gun is set to the half-cock notch.) The half-cock notch position is where CZ-pattern decocker models decock to. (No safety needed.)

While I generally prefer CZ guns to other guns based on the CZ pattern, almost everyone who has a BE or one of the guns from Israel, like the Jericho or the David, say these guns are just like a CZ, but feel a bit better in the hand. I haven't seen or shot one in years, so I can't offer any personal judgments about THAT trait. They all have the slide running inside the frame. (In theory, some claim, that makes the slide fit more snuggly as the gun warms, but I've never seen that be a factor in my many years of playing with CZ-pattern guns. The SIG P-210 series had that feature, but they were accurate because they were so precisely fitted, not because the slide ran INSIDE the frame.)

I think the Israeli firms originally bought parts from Tanfoglio, but long ago bought the RIGHTS to the design, and now make everything in Isreal. Tanfoglio probably gets a small fee for every one sold. CZ gets NOTHING. :(

Some older models have a de-cocker safety:

That's what I thought but wasn't sure about it. I think the early Tanfoglio TZ75 models also featured a slid mounted decocker. Always liked the clean, modernistic lines of the Jericho 941. Thanks for sharing.
