I have always preferred the smaller grips that leave the back strap open for concealment on my j-frames. I never had an issue with my 642, even with +p loads. However, shooting magnums through my scandium 340pd sucked.

I tried grips that covered the back strap, but putting huge, heavy grips on an 11oz revolver seemed to defeat the whole purpose. Then I found some dampening strips made by Limbsaver for compound bows, and had a thought.

I stuck one to the back strap, and suddenly a range session with magnum loads no longer results in bruises at the base of my thumb.

I’d recommend anyone taking a beating with an airlite give them a try. Beat ten bucks I’ve spent in ages

Can you link me to those for sale? Do they come in different thicknesses?

I think you just came up with the revolver tip of the month!

So far, I've gone through about 150 rounds (about a third of those being Magnum), and there are no signs of it moving or wanting to pull off. That said, I was very careful to use an alcohol pad and clean/dry the backstrap really good before installing the pad.
