j-frame belt holster

I'm in the immediate market for a new belt holster for my j-frames. I'd like to know what you guys like best before I decide. I am looking for the following features a belt holster:

1. I do NOT want IWB. I have IWB, but have been moving away from it since it is just as easy to conceal OWB and OWB is more comfortable - to me.

2. I generally prefer pancake holsters because they ride fairly high and hold the butt tight against my body.

3. I prefer a forward (FBI) cant, but a dual-position holster that allows cross-draw cant as well may be interesting.

4. I think leather would be best because while my M-60 is the primary weapon for this rig, I would like to able to fit my Taurus 85Ti in it as well and kydex tends to be less forgiving.

5. I'd like good retention without the encumberance of a thumbreak.


Right now I'm leaning towards an El Paso Saddlery "Street Combat" or "Double Agent", but I'd like to hear other recomendations.

I've been using a Kramer Belt Scabbard with my Js for several years. I ordered it with "as much rake as the pattern allowed" (I think this was an extra $20). It sits high, holds very close to the body, and conceals under almost anything that will reach halfway down your hip pocket. I use an Alessi DOJ for crossdraw (long drives, days with lots of sitting). If I had it to do over, I would probably have gotten an Alessi Belt Slide (same pancake style, "eastern" name ) - He builds in the rake I wanted, and the same good fit and positioning as standard, in high-grade cowhide instead of horse. All my other carry revolvers are in Alessi Belt Slides - just hadn't seen one when I ordered the Kramer.

Check out Don Hume's JIT Slide. No thumbreak, forward cant, secure enough for me to run with it on, holds tight to the body. Inexpensive.

Just to clarify the terminology a bit, the Hume JIT is the design referred to as a "belt slide" or "Yaqui slide" more or less west of the Mississippi. Alessis' Belt Slide is a pancake, like Kramers Belt Scabbard. I have always agreed with Frenchy on holsters, and his comments have caused me to bu a couple.....until now Just my own idiosyncracy and no attemmpt to start a discussion, let alone a flame - but - the thought of carrying a nice gun in a rig that leaves the front sight exposed and the muzzle susceptible to dings makes me cringe. I'm clumsier than the average bear, and that is just asking for Murphy to stick his nose in. It might be a consideration.
