J Frame Boot Grip Question

I'm thinking about replacing the standard rubber combat grips that came on my S&W 640 with wood grips. The combat grips are too long.

Question: are the Badger boot grips on this website (specifically left column, second down) the same size / length as the Excalibur boot grips (left column fifth down)? Thanks.

i am familiar with that website, as i've looked at grips there several times. i have personally seen the badger, but not the excalibur. however...

...as i understand it, the term "boot grip" refers to a grip where the bottom extends just far enough to meet the gun's grip frame. in other words, it's as short as you can get without having part of the metal grip frame extending below the boot grip. thus, the two brands should be either exactly the same length or so close you couldn't tell the difference.

someone correct me if i'm wrong...

I would suggest a set of Ahrends stocks. I use them and they are outstanding. They cost only $60 too. http://ahrendsgripsusa.com/ They are very nice people to deal with.

^ I have some Ahrends grips for my 1911, and they are 1st rate.

But the j-frame boot grips seem like they aren't that rounded. Would you have a picture of them on the gun to see how they look? And could you compare them (comfort, grip, etc.) against the standard plastic boot grips?

I think the excaliber is shorter but not by much.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but here is a Taurus with the black and grey laminate grips. These are the combat grips though, and nopt the boot grips. These grips are from grips4guns. I thought they were really nice (no longer have the gun or the grips).
