my j-frame model 36 is getting more and more use lately as all my automatics are giving me issues :barf:

after a range session (150 rounds usually) my right pinky (right handed) is pretty sore from the butt of the gun resting on it and me squeezing. i also have to re-grip often because of the little slippery bugger.

so, i want grips that fit big hands. i know some guys here must have upgraded, but the search function on this site leaves something to be desired.

are hogue soft-rubber grips worth the $30 (after s&H)?

fancy-schmancy wood grips get slippery when range sessions get hot and my hands get sweaty, so synthetic might be the best option here.

thanks!

Do you have a round butt or square butt? I have an new and never used set of Pachmayr grips for a "J" frame round butt you can have for the cost of shipping.

I like the Uncle Mike's Boot Grips that came on my Model 60. They give a place for your pinky to sit. I've got medium-sized hands; YMMV.

i love all these pictures guys, thanks a lot.

wnycollector, thanks for the offer! you guys are real helpful. i think the rubber would do a better job of keeping the gun in my sweaty hands better. but thanks!

elvishead, what are they?

i've been reading around and uncle mike's boot grips are a very popular choice, but it seems they no longer make them. hogue is getting most of my attention now.

I had the same problem until I put on a pair Hogue Monogrips like the one NCBeagle has pics of. They work great.

Sun195,
The Uncle Mike's grips you are talking about are not Boot grips, they are Combat grips. The Uncle Mike's Boot grips are the ones that come on the .38 Special +P J frames like the M642 and M638. The Boot grips are 2 finger grips which are flush to with the bottom of the gun where as the Combat grips have room a third finger like you said.

nosliw,
I think the Uncle Mike's Combat grips that come stock on the .357 Magnum J frame revolvers from S&W are very comfortable and work very well. I bought a set to use at the range for comfort when doing a lot of practice. They are only $27.75 direct from S&W from and can be ordered Here . They add very little to the size of the revolver but add a lot to the controllability and comfort.

Thanks - not sure why/how I got those mixed-up.

I liked the grips so much on my Model 60 that I replaced the Hogue grips on my 686 with similar grips.
