Just spotted this on reuters, thought it might be interesting to some!

The Colt Cobra revolver used by Jack Ruby to kill Lee Harvey Oswald, from the Pugliese collection, is seen in New York February 28, 2008. It is to be auctioned by Guernsey's Auction House in March.

Pugliese paid $220,000 for the revolver in 1991.

Be interesting to see what it goes for now.

In 1992 the gun was taken to DC to show then Speaker Thomas Foley and was seized by DC police and nearly destroyed under that lovely areas' "Zero Tolerance" policy. Some legal wrangling took place to get it released.

In November 1993 (30th anniversary of the shooting) Pugliese had Earl Ruby (Jack's brother) fire 100 rounds through the thing and tried to sell the empty cases for $2500 each.

WHAT!!!!

that's a huge strike against "zero tolerance", when they are willing to destroy a piece of American cultural history jut because. I think I hate D.C.

when my photo class went there during A.I.T. there were some naked girls outside the Canadian Embassy protesting Canadians killing baby seals, a tent town occupying the area across from the Capitol Building, it just struck me as a mix of great historical area and slimy-ness.

They were showing some of the stuff Pugliese is auctioning off today on Fox and Friends. One of the guys on the show was handling the gun and the other guy asked him to open up the "barrel" (obviously, incorrectly referring to the cylinder). The man holding the gun told him he didn't know how nor would he want to.

Other items they were showing for auction:

J. Edgar Hoover's FBI badge
Indiana Jones whip
The Maltese Falcon

Hello High Road: It was Steve Doucy who seemed to be quite new around guns. The girls and he were kinda giddy and joking about it being waved around in their direction. Bet they would all go to a range though if they would think of it. They should and then let us see. :)

In 1991 Ruby's revolver was sold at auction for $220,000. In 1992 a man named Robert Luongo who represented the buyer brought it to Washington to appear on the Larry King show. Afterwards he walked over to the U.S. Capitol and offered to show it to the House Speaker!! He was arrested by the Capitol Police and the gun was confiscated. It took months to get the gun back.
