I'm just a little confused. So revving an engine is a racial slur now?

An off duty officer, Chief Inspector Eoin Jenkins, said Hutton had revved the engine of his Lotus Esprit near two Muslims last year. After Hutton dismissed Jenkins' concern with an expletive, Jenkins immediately dispatched two police officers to Hutton's home where he was taken and thrown in jail for two days without formal charges.

This sounds more like Hutton was busted for "contempt of cop" to me.

In a police state like the UK, anything can be a crime if the Powers That Be decide it is on the spur of the moment.

Yea, things rocked 80 years ago! I wish I lived back then in Louiasana with my grandad. He used to tell me cool stories about the Klan and everything. Sounded like a fun time was being hard by all back then.

Lol.. apparently my attempt at sarcasm failed. Im black and so is my grandad. Both sides of my family come from the deep south.. I've heard a lot of stories about how things used to be.. So I always find it funny when people talk about how great things were 80 years ago and how there was no such thing as racism. It all depends on your perspective I guess.

EDIT: That doesnt mean I agree with someone getting a "racism ticket" from revving their engine at an arab-looking guy.. That's ridiculous. I was cited in CA for revving my engine when I had the Camaro though.. Something about exhibition of speed. I wasnt even moving!

Er.. that's sensationalist reporting for you. Obviously there's no such crime as "revving his car in a racist manner". It's put in quotes for a reason.

He was rude to an officer who told him that his revving was disturbing the peace, what do you expect?

After that post last week or so of the Orwellian poster they have in the UK nothing i hardly find this shocking. Would it be ok if the guy revving his engine was also muslim, or would they have thought it was some sort of jihadist code?
