Just got these for free! haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but they're frigging HUGE!

Anyone with any knowledge of this brand and/ or model? They are certainly not Zeiss quality, but I can't wait to take 'em to Dad's tomorrow where there's enough clear field to try them out!

you will need a good solid tripod as any thing over 10-12x is very hard to be hand held. my favorites are 10x-12x-80mm. use the bio,s to find your game and then use a good spotting scope for long range looking at single animals. eastbank.

Interesting..... But I'm with eastbank on the tripod suggestion. Highest power binocs I have are 10x and they say the higher you go on magnification the more you need something steady. I have no knowledge of that brand but hope that you can post your experiences with them after you get 'em out in the field. Considering that they were free means that even if they aren't the best in their class you still haven't lost anything. P.S. If they are that huge I'd bet that there is a provision for tripod mounting somewhere on the underside of them and that would be a big plus.

Unfortunately haven’t read anything good about them but have read about them. I like the 6.5X Vortex Furys for most of my hunting and the Leupold 10Xs for a bit longer range.

I’m quite a bit more sensitive to binoculars than riflescopes and often find myself disliking even well known brands. Chromatic aberration is the most common thing I see and it not only gives me headaches of the actual variety but makes for an indistinct image when you want to pick out detail.

Unless you already own a tripod I would find a solid surface to rest them on and determine if they are at all useable before investing any money on accessories. I wish you luck.

I have an old pair of Nikon binoculars with a 7 (I think 7) to 15 power range. Anything over 10X starts getting hard to hold.

Took 'em up to Dad's last night- resting them on the roof of the car wasn't ideal, but worked, and HOLY CRAP these things are powerful- I'm pretty sure that even with my 56 year old eyes, I could read a newspaper at at least a couple hundred yards, if not farther!!

What i have been using for a few years now are image stabilized binoculars. I have three sets, two by Canon and one by Fujinon. The Fujis are 14x and the stabilizing is, frankly, amazing. They were designed for marine use and will stabilize the image even from a boat.
Standing hunting they are marvelous....you press the button and the image Stops shaking even at 14X. Optics are first rate.
No need for a tripod.
The Canons are at least as good. The sets that i have have less magnification and so I use them in different situations. They are lighter than the Fujinons which may be a plus for some. When i want a set to carry for a walk in the woods or to look at the night sky or take to the pistol range...I grab the Canons. The Canons can be had at 18x if one wants to spend the money.
Canon IS series...8X25/10x30.
Fujinon Techno-Stabi 14X40
