Jeez Louise, all I want is one hex bolt!

+1 on McMaster Carr, Fastenal and Tractor supply.
Tractor Supply surprises me on what they have.
Amazon is surprising especially when the have a warehouse near you. (Mine is 20 miles away.)
Amazon trucks come around here more than once a day.
I've ordered things in the am and received them in the pm.
Or in the pm and received the next am.
Also, local vendors sometimes don't stock enough variety.

I found the perfect thing on amazon... $361 for a pack of 80  Anyone want 79 hex bolts? Size 7/8 x 14, 1 3/4 inch long; just the thing for cobbling together a homemade gas check expander on your RockChucker. Only $356 and I'll eat the 49¢
"Oh come on man"

1. Amazon
2. eBay
3. Local hardware: Cobbs, National, Ace, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Find the section with a bunch of drawers that look vaguely like this:

BTW, you can find all sorts of useful stuff here if you browse here regularly, such as plastic plugs threaded knobs, roll pins, weird metric threats und so weiter und so fort.

7/8" is a good size bolt, but any LGS worth its salt probably has boxes of junk or orphan die bodies or bullet seaters which can host whatever mandrel or spindle you wish to craft and insert. These can be readily secured by pinning or other mechanical means, including internal threading, creating a cheap adapter.

I want a few 7/8" lock washers. The narrow 1" Dillon die lock rings don't stay put very well and space is tight for bigger rings with set screws or cross bolts.

Heck , could have bought a new die if the project was so important

BTW, on the general subject of fastener questing, I did a fair bit of rummaging through drawers and trawling online to find a suitable combination parts for making this extended bolt handle (from aluminum tubing and stainless steel fasteners) for my custom K31 project a few years ago:

Would like to know more about that K31. Is that hard chromed? Or just in bead blasted in the white?

I had some components Armoloy plated -- here's my original posting on the project:

Lock washers for cap screws have a smaller O.D. and are sometimes called High Collar Lock Washers.
Here:

And there are star washers:

And/or wave washers...

Gas check expander. You have gas checks that won't fit? I must have not read correctly.
