Jello and Hogs

Has anyone ever heard of using strawberry jello to hunt hogs. I have also see the Fruit Punch Bombs in the aersol cans anyone every use any of these products before?

Some folks put Jello on conr ti attract hogs. I just put some corn in a bucket and leave it a couple weeks until it sours. I dig a hole in the ground with a post hole digger and put the sour corn in it. Hogs love it.

Jell-O is a common hog attractant. Raspberry seems to work well, from what I've heard.

I'd use the sugar-free kind; it's cheap, doesn't attract ants (in case you spill some near your ground blind), and the packets weigh next to nothing, so they're easy to stuff into a pocket.

Folks here have said that corn plus beer makes a good bait after it sours. Others have claimed that anti-freeze on the ground works, also.

this is not a good idea!!! anti freeze is a poison, as im sure everybody knows. please do not do this as yoiu may kill anything that eats it, as well as possibly poisoning any water, be it surface water or ground water in the area

i have heard that anti freeze if eatin by animals is deadly plus its probly not the best thing for the enviroment

I agree on the anti-freeze. Avoid anything that poisons animals. I read on another forum that the hogs avoided the jello at first and that once acclimated, really liked it. I would just stick with corn and let it sour in water, why waste good beer? Hogs will eat most any kind of food, they are opportunists.

Anti-freeze smells very sweet to certain animals. Along with hogs, cats are attracted to it as well.

I actually left a 5 gallon bucket full of pears on the back porch once. It rained and I forgot about the bucket for about 2 weeks. Went back out side and the bucket had filled with water and the pears were sour beyond description. I threw the mess in the hog trap before dark on Friday. Next morning 4 hogs in the trap. The moral of the story is the nastier the smell, the more the hogs like it.

anti freeze is polyethelene glycol. it is sweet smelling and sweet tasting to all animals. it is also a highly potent neurotoxin. it shuts down the higher then lower brain functions. violent seizures followed by respiratory arrest.

if anyone's cared for animal ever gets poisoned by it you can give it a chance by dosing with ipecac syrup or hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. then follow with pure grain alcohol to neutralize the poison. get to vet ASAP and he will infuse alcohol.

in short...dont EVER this to any animal. ive seen it too many times and its NOT pretty.

btw....double packet of jello with half and half water and cheap vodka works wonders as a pig getter!
