Oh man,

After Jim put all that thought into his questionaire replies, too!

I hate these "reality, joke on you" type shows. In fact I can't wait for one of these clowns to pull a stupid scare tactic on the wrong person and watch them piss their pants as some trained ccw holder draws on them.

In fact... here's an interview with someone where some kids were copycatting the reality scare shows and thought it would be funny to pretend to rob a jewelry store...only to find themselves confronted by a store owner who takes classes at Frontsight firearms academy...
http://www.frontsight.com/Promotion/17/1interview1.htm

Anyway, Jim, take their sorry butts down! they have no idea who they just messed with!

Funny you should mention threats.

The single biggest idiot was this...well, obviously professional actor, who supposedly had a psychology degree and was involved in "treating" people with "gun afflictions" by dealing with their underlying "sexuality issues". Ya. I knew things had gone WAY south once I realized this bizarre gadget he'd just handed me was something I'd vaguely heard of but never seen. A penis pump. Swear to God.

Anyways. This same moron was also a "hunting advocate". 'Cept he didn't like guns. So he advocated "manly hunting". With rocks. Cut to video of three morons in camo wandering through the woods annoying various furred/feathered critters with thrown rocks.

Ok, so by the end of this bizarre crap as the closing credits are rolling, he pulls out a fairly big rock and holds it in a throwing position, growling and snarling at me, and making pathetic throwing motions.

I came *this* close to pulling a knife on his dumbass. Had my hand all the way in my pocket. Paused there, thought better of it.

:banghead:

And that was NOT the weirdest crap that went on.

:cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

I am SOOOO pissed right about now...:fire:

My response to "Erika"

“Erikaâ€:

Word is quickly getting out about how you and your program deliberately attempted to humiliate members of a community with whom I am proud to be associated.

In your quest for ratings, has it occurred to you that there is a line you shouldn’t cross? Decency? Is this a term you do not understand?

In case you have forgotten, below is the online Merriam-Webster dictionary’s definition:

Main Entry: de•cen•cy
Pronunciation: 'dE-s&n-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
1 archaic a : FITNESS b : ORDERLINESS
2 a : the quality or state of being decent : PROPRIETY b : conformity to standards of taste, propriety, or quality
3 : standard of propriety -- usually used in plural
4 plural : conditions or services considered essential for a proper standard of living
5 : literary decorum

Hmmm. Maybe the above is not particularly well-written, but you get the idea.

On the other hand, maybe you don’t… Clearly you don’t.

I am confident that the responses you get will be angry, yet disciplined. Discipline that you evidently lack.

You have, however, lost a great many potential friends.

But, in an attempt to put a positive spin on things, by degrading television even further than it already is, perhaps more people will read books. One can hope.

By the way, I am a woman. I am also a shooter. Would you care to comment on my sexuality?

Andrea

I read your "application", Mr. March. Well done.

he pulls out a fairly big rock and holds it in a throwing position, growling and snarling at me, and making pathetic throwing motions.
And he handed YOU the penis pump? My, what practically unbelievable hypocricy. Kudos to you Jim, for your restraint in not simply decking this moron.

Jim, I can't help wondering what you were thinking when you applied for this show. I feel bad that you were treated badly, but quite frankly, I can't figure out how you didn't realize this would be the final outcome. And worse yet... you honestly and naively put down your employer (CCRKBA) on the application! This is Comedy Central, Jim! This is a liberal, idiotic station owned by MTV! Did you not think they would take this as a prime opportunity to put down gun owners by making a complete fool out of one of their leaders? I'm not sure I know what to say. It's one thing to want to "spread the message," so to speak, but it's quite another to put yourself up on a nationally broadcast platform on the opposition's turf and expect to come out clean. I'm sorry, Jim. I'm angry you were misled and mistreated, but I do think it's something you should have expected. There is no way these folks would ever help promote gun owners or put them in a positive light. You should have known better. Seriously.

Jim I think you showed allot of restraint. I would have walked out instead of subjecting myself to that crap.

And worse yet... you honestly and naively put down your employer (CCRKBA) on the application! This is Comedy Central, Jim!

He did not know that! Did you even read? They presented to him as a debate on MTV Networks. If you don't remember, MTV does do political debates on occasion, especially during the presidential election season. They basically lied to him and left out the Comedy Central.

Jim, if I were you, I'd seriously consider getting CCRKBA to file a lawsuit to keep that episode off the air, especially if you're on the air as their representative. It was clear that you were decieved, and you should look at your legal options.

Swear to God, guys, they lied to me.

I'm going to be able to prove it, too. Six ways from Sunday.

They almost got Sam Parades of GOC down there, and had extensive conversations with him. He and I talked about it; we BOTH thought this would be a little bit "wild" but that all parties would be actual activists speaking to actual positions.

They lied to me all through the show itself...each break, they'd work me in a team saying things like "whoa, hey, ya these guys are weird but there's some weird people out there, waddya mean this is a setup?" and like that over and over. And I'd kinda scoop up what was left of my sanity and try and slug it out some more.

Oh GOD.

They NEVER used the term "Crossballs" as the show's title beforehand, and they made sure the logo only appeared briefly on video screens and was stylized enough that I couldn't be sure of the spelling. And they never, EVER used the phrase "Comedy Central". They told me right before the show this:

----------------
"This is being filmed for the MTV Network, we're not sure which of the MTV channels it might appear on."
----------------

Well that's a lie. It was planned for Comedy Central right from the get-go.

Guys, if I'd been in on the joke, hell, I might STILL have done it but I'd have known what the hell was up and been able to react and cope.

But this...this....ARG!

Well here's the good news. "Contract law" includes the concept of full disclosure of what's going on. You bet your butt I'm talking to lawyers.

:fire:

Lonnie
He did not know that! Did you even read?

Why yes Lonnie, I did. Perhaps it was you who did not. I quote from an earlier post in this thread.

TheOtherOne - Isn't Comedy Central coming out with a new show called "The Debate Show"? I think it's going to be similar to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Granted, that particular comment was after the fact, but the trap warnings came out immediately and it doesn't take a genius to do a little background before putting the collective butt on the line. Notice that the original post from Erica says "MTV Networks". Go poke around and see what is owned by MTV Networks.

2+2 always equals 4, whether you want it to or not.

As to whether or not there is any legal recourse, I have a question. Jim, did you sign any interesting documents like waivers or artistic releases or anything other of a contractual basis? I'm relatively certain you did, as I'm relatively certain you didn't read it because they most likely didn't give you adequate time. I'd also be willing to bet that there is language in there detailing release of liability for MTV Networks and all subsidiaries based on their use of the materials, and I'm sure satirical use was covered, regardless of what Jim was told. I'd even be willing to bet that Comedy Central is mentioned there somewhere.

You're usually pretty diligent about your research Jim. I fear that in your zeal to represent the cause, you overlooked it at a most critical time. I do hope you informed Alan about all of this, pre appearance.

Best of luck Jim, I hope you can find a way to kill this before it sees the light of day.

If they lied to you to get you on the show and then try to put you on the air, I think that would constitute fraud. Perhaps a nice lawsuit is in order to inject some reality into these numbskull's day.

Absolutely sick. :barf: However, take heart: This kind of childish behavior is the only thing the antis have left to throw at us. They can't win an honest exchange of facts, so they have to deal in what amounts to immature name calling. The sad part: it WILL appeal to John & Jane Q. Public's increasingly shrinking attention span and depth of thought process. :(

This wasn't the first attack on RKBA this year by Comedy Central. Last weeks episode of the daily show.

They conveniently left out the fact that SB1210 in Arizona would specifically not allow the person carrying to actually drink ANY alcohol. Or they did only once but make implications that people would just "ignore that".

By the way, I am a woman. I am also a shooter. Would you care to comment on my sexuality?

hey typhoon, maybe their crank psychologists would say "penis envy"?

just a thought.

::Insert IANAL disclaimers here::

I can't see this particular taping ever seeing the light of day. Some kind of consent has to be given and any obtained based on obvious fraud and misleading statements would be suspect - they were nice enough to leave email trails at Calguns, THR and maybe other places; Jim's got a nice pdf of a filled out application.

The application is for a debate, not as a spokesman for adult appliances.

The lawyers I drink with seem to place great stock in the issue of whether or not one is "damaged". For a registered lobbyist whose stock in trade is credibility, the possibility of claiming damage would seem more plausible than if he was, say, a student.

Sure would be nice if CCRKBA started getting funded by a judgement against MTV - Well, I can dream, can't I?

Was it O'Rourke who said that TV is a "long plastic hallway, a shallow money trench where pimps and thieves run free and good men die like dogs"?

Pretty sure it was.

Jim, if it hadn't been you, they'd have found someone. Good thing it wasn't someone like DC or they'd still be in surgery.

I am sorry that you had to sit thru such obvious garbage Jim, especially after your tireless work to preserve our rights. Those bastages have to pay and pay dearly. I hope you slap 'em with an injunction to stop or delay the air of this trash. I fyou want to start a legal fund to pay for the fight, post the info on here and I will be the first to throw in a little money. I would like to donate by PayPal if possible. Don't let them get away with this, show them why they need to learn to fear us.

I only get one channel and it's an NBC affiliate, so I'm not an expert on talking head tv. It sounds like you guys were hit by the tidal wave of excrement that passes for entertainment. Better to let it subside rather than raising the profile and exposure by taking any further action.

Besides, Jim, you are too valuable a resource in the REAL RKBA battle to squander your time and energy on this kind of nonsense. (How's that for collectivist reasoning?) :)

So for the next crossballs, what would be another cultural minority, easily marginalized and humiliated. I put up trepanners (skull drillers) and radical vegans. (unfortunatly vegans and lefties overlap, so mtv wouldn't want to offend its base audience).

Jim ... I'll join with Ironfist ... re something to help out if you need it. I have a bit of cash in paypal ... I'd like you to get any support you need here ...... crucify the bastages.

Please say if this would help ....

One of the guys on that show is a friend of a family member. We're trying to put him in touch with Jim directly right now.

I'd appreciate it if everyone would chill out a bit until Jim can get to talk with the people he needs to talk to and see what's up. Lets not start something we can't control until they get a chance to talk and we're clear about what is going on.

Thanks.

- Gabe
