Did anyone else see the John Gibson interview with a Houston gun shop owner today? The shop owner also has a radio show. They were discussing the increase in crime in Houston since the arrival of the "refugees" and self-defense.

The guest gave a nice short speech explaining how the job of the PD is to solve crimes and not to be personal body guards for the public. When Gibson asked what gun should be used for self-protection, the guest held-up a Kimber .45 and commented that the .45 makes a nice big hole. He also stated that at night the muzzle flash is very impressive.

The shop owner was interviewed in his shop, with a nice display of guns in the background.

I know some people don't like FOX news, but I don't believe I'll ever see Katie Couric do this type of interview on CBS. All around, it was a very positive piece.

That is the main reason I like Fox. I have seen stories on there that no one else would dare present. That is also why Fox is popular.

The man is a blowhard that lets his opinions filter into his news reporting too much.

Can you name any news reporter that the latter does not apply to? The former certainly applies to many, if not most.

Woe, hold on there.
let's get something straight. John Gibson, Brit Hume, and the rest of the hosts of FOX are not news reporters, they are commentators. They are SUPPOSTED to give their opinon. They are straight forward about that. They do not try to make you believe that they are giving anything other than their opinion.
The news is given by the the babe at the top and bottom of the hour, and FOX does one heck of a good job keeping opinion out of the news (fair and balanced--I defy you to find opinion in the news casts).
I know it is difficult to keep straight because ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, ect present their opinons mixed in with the news and try to pass if off as news.

Well...

...the gunstore owner has a point. Once the Gov't assistance runs out for these Katrina scum, then it will probably be safer in downtown Baghdad then Houston.

On the plus side, Harris county (ie Houston) usually averages about 8000 new CHL permits per year - so far they are on track for 11000, maybe as high as 12000.

Its starting to get out of hand - its almost like we have 2-3 or even 4 shootings a day. I simply don't go anywhere unless I'm armed or at least have a gun in my truck, if I can't go immediately armed.

I watched this interview on foxnews.com this morning. The video is titled "Texas Vigilante"!!!!!!! :cuss: I was going to respond to fox, but I was at work. I had forgotten about it until now. There is nothing in this interview to justify the vigilante label. I think I'll go send that email now.

if it is the guy I am thinking of, his name is Jim Pruett, formerly of the Radio show 'Stevens and Pruett'. Was a radio dj for about 30 yrs. also a viet nam combat vet, saw lots of action. On a local report here in houston , the libs went crazy when during an interview locally , he held up a very mean looking tac 12 gauge, and said, " this is what we call a looter shooter!" he is still catching hell from that one. i regularly frequent his store, Pruett's gun shop , up off of 290 and huffmeister. his whole family works there.
