The anectodal feedback on JP's CTR-02 .223 ar-15 is quite favorable...
athough i never know if its expressed by those with an agenda (ie JP aficianados)

The aesthetics of the rife is what draws me to it...
the CNC'd upper receiver is a piece of art -
and certainly a nice change from the mil-spec!

Match grade barrel (24 in, 1:9) with well made comp...adjustible gas block...
Proprietary low mass bolt carrier assy, JP VTAC free float handguards,
proven JP trigger group...whats not to like!

However, my intention is to use this rifle as a dedicated bench rested, scoped tack driver....
not for IPSC/run-and-gun/3 competition.

Complete upper....$1375.....complete rifle over $2K

Now, my optional build...
24 in Krieger brl (1:9), cut at Compass Lake...
Les Baer upper receiver (alum billet, CNC'd), FF HG, jewell trigger, magpul PMS stock...
complete rifle about $1300...proven tack driver out to 500 yds!

Anyone with experience or 2nd hand info with the JP rifle?

Help me make an informed decision so buyers regret is avoided:banghead:

TIA

I got to shoot a JP CTR a year or so ago and it is a really fine match rifle, will it be any more accurate than your optional build? Probably not enough (if any) for an average shot like me to tell. I will say I have shot, and own, a custom AR or two, and none of them were as good as the JP. I have a JP trigger in my custom 6x45 AR also.

Both sound like good rifles to me, The CTR is also the basis for his High Power match rifle by the way, just has the bloop tube and competition sights added, so it will work as a high end bench gun also. Since you are going for a high end build anyway the only major advantage I see is that if the JP doesn't shoot, he'll make it right, no matter what it takes. Who fixes the other one if it doesn't shoot.

I'm seriously thinking about one of the CTR uppers for later in the year, it would go on the DPMS lower built for my 6x45.

if you're wanting to drive tacks at 500 yrds, you're going to want at least a 1:8 for the 77 and 80g SMKs.

Thanks for he replies!

I think Im gonna take the plunge and go for the JP....just the upper.

With 1st person accounts of its accuracy, like Browningguy and others,
I think if I pass it up i'd be kickin' myself later on.:cuss:

The Krieger build will wait.....;)

Thanks again
