I can't find the post now and I'm back several pages, but I recall someone making the point that these guns are accurate enough with the 410 self defense rounds that they still have to be aimed.
That's true. It my experience at useful distances they're softball groupings.
If you wanted something that required less precision, one could load a pdx round for the first 1 or 2 cylinders.
While the 3 defense discs group tightly at home defense ranges, the bbs spread fairly rapidly.
If you were surprised in the night by a violent assault or didn't have eyeglasses etc , the discs get 9-10 inches I think. The bbs still get around 4. It's nothing to scoff at and very well could turn aside an assault.
I think we all saw the recent video of the guy absorbing 12 rounds of 9mm at nearly point blank range while advancing with a stick.
I have to wonder at such close range what a pdx round would have done in the face or upper chest. Multiple projectiles and wound channels. A lot of folks at the time were wondering if the officer was putting repeated rounds almost through the same spot essentially damaging nothing new.
You could load an initial round of pdx that would require a bit less aiming, practicing point shooting.
Subsequent rounds could be Federal 410 handgun or half moon 45 acp or drop in 45 colt where you are focusing fire.
It's a tool in the tool box. Not an only gun, unless you never foresee shooting at over 25 yards imo.
But I'm always shooting and to be honest I hardly ever see folks shooting pistols at ranges much beyond 15 yards, even with full size 1911s or duty size glocks.
Like another poster, when I grew up the targets started at 25 yards so that's what I cut my teeth on. Aim small miss small.
Still like the governor as an up close multi tasking tool.
