Judge Andrew Napolitano, more notable for his expertise and commentary on Fox News, delivers "a spellbinding speech that blended a masterful understanding of American history with a blazing outrage at the excesses of the new security state."

I don't know if this speech or link has been posted here before, but I would highly recommend spending the 36 minutes and 38 seconds to view this streaming video. I promise that it's an education worth having.

The link for this video is: http://reason.tv/video/show/178.html

You know, while the Internet has a lot of flaws, it has some pretty incredible stuff out there.

wait...from Fox News? I'm already skeptical, but alright. Here goes...

Judge Napolitano rocks. I've read all three of his books and he's spot on about it all. Gov abuse and people sheeple.

I am a little skeptical about Fox news. It claims to be fair and balanced but much of the news coverage is still slanted way to the left.

However, most of the commentary is indeed much more balanced than the other news channels, maybe even slanted slightly towards the right. I like a channel that is unafraid to present commentary from more than one perspective. There are no other news outlets that do that.

Whoa I got one of those weird deja vu moments that I have responded to this before. I agree it is not fair and balanced but if those rock heads are slanted way to the left you must be off the charts on the right. I am more and more libertarian and think just about all mainstream media outlets have thrown fair and balanced right out the window along with some other quaint ideals.

"Government must go through a neutral judge before it can get to that target."

A "neutral" judge who is a member of and paid by the government? What an oxymoron, Mr. Napolitano.

Would there happen to be another source, where maybe one might read? I am stuck on a 56k mo dumb, and this isn't going to work for me.

I spent the better part of an hour searching for an online transcript of the speech without results.

Perhaps you know someone who can digitally record the video for you to play?

I want this guy on the Supreme Court. There seems to be little chance I'll be appointed.

Be careful who you choose to stand behind and support. If you are unwilling to take care of yourself, you must take whatever care that comes along. I've yet to see a flock of sheep, no matter how well cared for and tended, that doesn't get fleeced from time to time and eventually end up on the dinner table. Not many sheep die a natural death. There is a Quicktime version available for download. It's 107MB in size but you could download that and then watch it rather than try the streaming version. Start it and let it run through the weekend I guess.... not sure how long that would take at 56k.

It's worth watching. I'm still sick to my stomach from it......

Awesome speech. Should be required viewing for anyone who votes.

Man, and I get impatient with DSL that goes 30x that speed for being slow...
Heh. Since my sustained throughput is about 3k, it would have taken me over 3 days to download it from home...

Big difference between Fox and the other news sources in the NEWS part is that Fox is less leftist in their approach.

The COMMENTARY on Fox is much more to the right then the far left commentary that you get on the other news sources.

Commentary is just that. Its not news, and the commentator is entitled to share his personal views. News should be news and not slightly disguised leftist propaganda.

I live in the boonies and don't see other people very often. I go postal maybe once a week if I feel like it. That means go out to get the mail.

Most of my mail comes under the allieas of "occupant"

But thanks for the answers just the same.

Re: Fox news.

I deal with their balance in some detail here: http://geekwitha45.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html#111604578912571362

The bottom line is that they are somewhat tilted right, but not nearly as much as almost everyone else is tilted left.

The reason some folks think they're waaaaaaay out in right field is because the accept the incorrect proposition that what all the other mass media streams offer is actually mainstream and centrist.

Go check the link. I've got pretty pictures & everything.

Excellent explanation.

The same discrepancy between rhetoric and reality can apply to the way politicians speak of the "middle class", in regard to income, taxes, and tax breaks.

I've watched 15 minutes of it and I don't think he has mis-spoke once.:uhoh:

I wish I could speak in public like that.
