6.5, 6.8, 9mm, .40, .45, .22, ;)

Since you load, pistol calibers might make sense. Is $0.50/round factory, or handloads? I checked for a friend, dies and a case cutter run a little over $100. I only run 5.56 and 6.8, so I am not trying to convince you of anything, just carrying a conversation

I'm just a weekend blaster, the DI system will serve me just fine, alot cheaper too. 5.56 is fun and cheap.

I could load 300 blk, but I would need brass first. Also dies, shellholder and projo's. I already load 4 calibers as it is, not really worth the hassle to me.

Only 4 calibers? I have one set of dies that does that duty. (32 acp, 32sw, 32 long, 32 mag, 327 fed). I have more lowers than uppers right now. I'm about to build another upper. Debated buying but I can do it for the same money and know it's done right. I just wish I could find a deal on BCG right now.

If you are worrying about a "possible run on guns" IMHO you should worry more about a "possible run on ammo" especially if you only have guns in a single, very popular caliber.

300 blk is really expensive to shoot, around 50 cents/round.
You can make the cases from .223/5.56 brass.

Where and what brand of .300 blk are you finding for $0.50/round? I don't want to reload for it and I'm seeing it generally closer to $1.00/round which has thus-far held me back

Fortunately, I haven't seen any panic buying here yet. However, that doesn't mean there won't be shortly after the election.

I think the above is a very good piece of advise per wally. If you primarily shoot calibers like 5.56, .223, or 9mm then it might be a good thing to have a bit extra on hand. (Not saying to panic and spend your mortgage on ammo, just have some on hand if you do not already) Ammo and magazines were hard to come by in my neck of the woods after the 2012 election. Oddly, the firearms themselves were still relatively easy to source.

Glad you got an extra upper, OP. Hope it's a good shooter for you.

This link might help you......................

Thanks for the link, I know about ammoseek, but haven't checked it in quite some time. But except for the Armscor loads (closer to $0.70/round, which is encouraging) these all seem to be "commercial reloaders". Places like Georga Arms and Black Hills started that way, but it took a long time to earn their reputations. Maybe after some more time I'd take a chance on TNT Ammo etc.

I load 5.56 as well and have enough components to do 5000 rounds, so no worries there.

Magtech makes an FMJ round for 300 blk, its 52 cents/round, but can't find it anywhere right now.
