For the past few months in anticipation of receiving my CCDW I have been looking around for a carry gun. Been shooting for several years but just don't have a gun that I feel that would be reasonable for CC for varying reasons.
I felt I would settle for a Glock 19/23. They fit my hand well, and can be concealed fairly easily. Then last week I remembered the Officer model 1911’s such as the EMP. I was fairly excited as I feel very comfortable with a 1911. It’s the gun learned to shoot with and the one I’ve shot the most. I started to save up and wait because it is certainly out of my current price range. I was lucky enough to go to the NRA convention yesterday and held my first compact 1911. I was very disappointed. I’ve got fairly large hands and the handle stopped 2/3 of the way down and cut into my palm. Very disappointed I left, but naturally stopped by a local gun store on the way home. While there I was introduced to the commander sized S&W lightweight. :D :D :D :D :D I'm going to look at the Colt Commander later this week and shop around for prices, but I think I am in love :D Sorry, just had to share

If it feels good in the ol' gut, then its probably a good choice.

If I got my facts right the S&W doesn't weigh much more than the EMP...

28 oz. for the S&W
26 oz. for the EMP (9 mm)

I saw one of the Smith commander size in the local shop the other day and found it pretty hard to resist. Darn good looking pistol!

Can't say I blame you.

AHHH!!! How did you find those pics of my baby on the internet? :D
Checking tomorrow for local prices. I'm seeing the Impact Gun's prices, but what is a common used price?

Here's a stainless version for sale over on the buy, sell, trade handguns pages:

The "sc" stands for Scandium which is a tougher alloy than aluminum. So...either the S&W1911Sc, the S&W1911PD (PD for Personal Defense or might be Police Dept., pictured above) or the S&W1911Gunsite (same as above but with "Gunsite" grips and maybe an extra dingaling) get you the same firearm with the Scandium frame.

Bud's gunshop has them delivered for $819 if my memory serves.
