I've been searching for a S&W 610 for some time now. I'd bid on a couple on Gunbroker and lost. I'd just bid on another with a higher maximum bid (for a 4 inch barrel 610). Went to the Washington Arms Collectors show last Saturday and saw a 6 inch 610 and snapped it up. It is great, after adjusting the sights, I was able to put 12 rounds into this 1/2 size silhouette at 7 yards.
Trouble is, I still have a bid open on that 4 inch...so I may end up with two of them. Dang....I might sell one...I might keep them both. I shot both .40 S&W and 10mm (the target was from 10mm). I reload the .40 but after shooting the 10mm I might have to invest in dies for the 10mm as well.
Oh well, I consider myself lucky to get even one of them.
I was a semi-auto person for 30 years. I got a .45LC Blackhawk at the Gun show (as my father always carried a .357 Ruger when we were hunting). That gave me the bug and I searched for a S&W Mountain Gun in .45LC for a long time and got a 625-6 at the gun show and loved it (accurate as heck with a sweet double action trigger pull). It was my most accurate pistol for a long time...until I picked up a S&W 325pd (.45ACP) at the gun show and it is even better (just as accurate with a better trigger pull). The target below is the same size, 7 yards, but with double action shooting only.
I still shoot my semi-auto's, but always bring one or two revolvers.
I'm taking Massad Ayoob's Level 1 course this summer. He recommends two guns and I'm going with my Kimber Custom Classic (full size 1911) and my 325pd. As far as I'm concerned, reloading with full moon clips takes about as much time as putting in a new mag into my Kimber.
