just got my cz-75 back from cz custom...question

sent it in for a trigger job after hearing tons of reviews on how great the trigger can be made on these guns. so i just got it back today...just took it out of the box, and played around with the trigger to get a feel for how the improved trigger felt...

it felt 100% exactly the same. the problem with the original trigger was lots of take up even in SA, staging, and a vague, not- crisp breaking point. after reading glowing reviews of how the trigger can be made 'almost 1911-like perfect' i guess i was expecting a totally improved trigger feel...now i havent shot it yet so maybe improvements will shine though there, but as of now the SA trigger feels exactly the same as before. too much take up, still has staging, and the breaking point is still vague and not crisp. i can discern no differenceat all in how the trigger pull feels.
on the plus side they did alot of polishing on various parts, and the barrel looks great, very shiny.

maybe i just didnt know what to expect but i guess i was expecting something more along the lines of a say a sig p220 SA pull/feel. can anyone whose had their cz's worked on chime in and let me know what i should be expecting in a trigger job? thanks

These are the sort of issues you want to talk with the gunsmith about BEFORE sending it off for work. If nothing else, you know WHAT to expect. (You didn't know, but now you do...)

If you have a standard DA/SA 75B, the trigger can be improved by making it smoother and crisper on the break, but there's not much that can be done about the long take up while keeping the Double Action trigger. Trigger pull CAN be shortened somewhat. (Schmeky, who participates here, has some custom parts at cajungunworks.com that can help with that issue.)

If you convert it to SA only, then a different (two-way adjustable) trigger can be installed that will let you adjust OUT all of the excess take up, and keep the crisp SA break. You lose second-strike/double action capability with that change (and the removal of the disconnector.)

After the Custom Shop work, you should now have a smooth, clean double-action trigger and a very crisp break with no grunge when firing from a cocked hammer . If you don't, you need to talk to CZ Custom. Given your comments above, sounds like a call is in order -- to talk about what you've found.

Every DA/SA handgun will have alot of take up in SA mode, you have to or the DA will not function. Sounds like you wanted it converted to SA only but didnt know it.

I have a couple of da/sa czs and they have takeup in single action and one of them is a sp-01 shadow. It's funny though I had a 75b about 10 years ago that had almost zero takeup single action. Like an idiot I sold that gun. I also have a bul impact cz clone and it has only about 1/8" takeup single action. My best trigger is on a 75sa with the firing block removed and a comp hammer and straight trigger installed. That gun has a trigger pull like a decent 1911. It has a very short takeup and reset and breaks very crisply.

i guess i just didnt know enough going in lol...well mine is the omega version so they said the comp hammer and flat trigger werent compatible with it unfortunately...but in any case cant wait to get it to the range to try it out, from all the polishing im sure the action is gonna be real nice and who knows maybe the trigger will feel improved.

The Omega system may have an effect. Not using the comp. hammer, too. And, keeping the FPB installed more still. A polish job to the Omega is likely more a fluff-n-buff deal by comparison IMO. The CZ Custom I owned had the sweetest trigger ever in a SA/DA blaster. It was smooth, light, crisp and short.

Not familiar with this Omega, but with standard actions you have to replace the hammer to get rid of the "hammer camming" which accounts for most or all of the "creep" in SA.

The Omega is a totally different CZ, nothing internally will interchange with the "standard" CZ line. I have been working on an Omega action to gain insight into making improvements.

The problem presently is hammer follow when the hammer hooks are reduced sufficiently to deliver a very good-excellent SA trigger pull. I think this can be solved, I have some items in the works to install and test.

I must say, the Omega is the easiest CZ pistol to disassemble, much akin to a 1911.
