Just got my GP-100. Sure is purty! Seems to be an RCMP import from CAI. Plan to shoot mosty .38's and .38 +P's but an looking for some .357's that wont break my arm. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

congratulations on your new GP. So far I have only shot WWB and some remington .38+p. Everything shot fine with it. What barrel length did you get? Stainless or Blued?

Congrats, I bought one too about a month ago. I never thought that super hot .357 are arm breakers, I guess you better not shoot a .500 S&W then. Enjoy your wheel gun and don't let the S&W guys heckle you too much.

I surmise that you have one of those three-inch barelled items. I recommend 140 grain loads for the best balance between velocity, bullet weight, and gun durability.

I don't believe that anyone has documented these as being used by RCMP. It is more likely they were from the Canadian military police, or some local force, although most seem to agree that they came here from the great socialist nation to the north.

If recoil is a problem, you can use Plus P .38 rounds, and I suggest Speer's new 135-grain item, or the old lead FBI load.

Welcome to the Forum!

A load that I like for Defense and Accuracy is the Winchester 145gr Silver Tip.

It shoots soft for a Magnum but hits with robust authority. I carry it in an SP 101 and the gun delivers accurate bullet placement with a minimal loss of time due to recoil. Follow up shots are fast and well placed.

Muzzle blast moderate and muzzle flash low. Carry this load in my 586 4" also as it just works in all the 357s I have used.

thanks all. I got the 4" stainless for $275. shows some holster ware but the rest looks fine and I got it from a good friednd who would not steer me wrong. havent shot it yet, but I plan to this weekend with some .38's. I will get some +P's and some lighter .357's. Not too worried about recoil or blast as I shoot a lot of 12 ga., but I have only shot .38's thru a S&W .357 and that was 100 easy rounds.
thanks again and glad to be here! will report back as soon as I have somethng to report! lol
