If you are looking at AR-15s, what exactly does the .300 ACC Blackout do even as well as the 6.8SPC other than use standard .223 Magazines?

Never ceases to amaze me how many times people don't understand the uses/advantages of 300BLK.

I think every forum that asks this question, I post the same thing, so here it is again:

300BLK advantages:

- Works well suppressed and unsuppressed
- Works well in short or long barrels (from 7" up to 18" IIRC)
- Excellent Reloader round
- Uses standard 5.56/223 BCG and mags, and uses same parts with exception of barrel and FH
- Can use a variety of bullets from 110-220gr

Its not without its faults, but if used within the confines of its limits, it is a great round for hunting, HD/SD, and generic plinking if you have a source for the ammo.

The ammo availability issue is the same anway as the 6.8 or 6.5 because they are all wildcat calibers.

6.8 and .300 Blackout are both SAAMI calibers, so definitely not Wildcats.
I don't know about the 6.5.
If SAAMI publishes specs on a cartridge, it isn't a Wildcat.
Even the .300 Whisper isn't a Wildcat, it's just a proprietary cartridge.

6.5 Grendel is SAAMI now too...there was a huge controversy about the Grendel before SAAMI certified it because Alexanders Arms was requiring companies send in schematics to their 6.5 Grendel barrels in order to make sure they mets AA's specs.

Companies like Les Baer took offense and created their own rounds identical to the Grendel in all but the name.

Now that SAAMI standardized it anyone can use the name withought going through Alexander Arms
