I bought an 8 lb jug of IMR 4895, it was cheap and available. Hodgdon's site show's a max charge of 45.4 grains, with a 168 BTHP. I loaded 15 rounds at 44.8, we'll see what they do at 100 yards. I plan on stepping it down .5 grains at a time, until I find a charge that shoot's a good, tight group. Maybe I'll get real lucky and 44.8 will be "in the zone".:D I'm an experienced handloader, I'm comfortable approaching the max charge. I'm not interested in starting at the minimum load, because with the 20" barrel on my Remmy 700 SPS, I'd be getting 2400 fps, lol. I'm guessing the most accurate load will be with 43+ grains. One way or another, I'll find a good load with this powder.:)

I fired 15 rounds loaded at 44.8 grains today, three (5) shot groups, they were 1.1", 1", and .90" at 100 yards. The last group had (4) rounds in one hole!:D I think this is a good load, I hesitate to mess with it. I might go ahead and try 44.5 grains, if the groups open up any, I'll know that 44.8 is where its at.:)

I rolled the dice on this powder, bought an 8lb keg of it, turns out I made a great choice!
