I bought an 8 lb jug of IMR 4895, it was cheap and available. Hodgdon's site show's a max charge of 45.4 grains, with a 168 BTHP. I loaded 15 rounds at 44.8, we'll see what they do at 100 yards. I plan on stepping it down .5 grains at a time, until I find a charge that shoot's a good, tight group. Maybe I'll get real lucky and 44.8 will be "in the zone". I'm an experienced handloader, I'm comfortable approaching the max charge. I'm not interested in starting at the minimum load, because with the 20" barrel on my Remmy 700 SPS, I'd be getting 2400 fps, lol. I'm guessing the most accurate load will be with 43+ grains. One way or another, I'll find a good load with this powder.
