USMCCPL: I think if you can afford it get both! I have Ruger SRH .44 and I dont regret it, even though I dont carry it around. It is just one of those guns for me that I take out on bright Sunday mornings and go target shooting with buddies.

Easily picking the Glock.

Do any other pistols have: 33 round 9mm mags, 29 round .40 mags, 25 round .45 mags in the aftermarket?

Glock has 10mm platforms (G20 and G29); the 10mm round is more powerful than the .357 Magnum, btw. The G20 can hold 16 of these bad boys, also. Sixteen of Magnum powered rounds, is unbeatable. ;)

Glock is among the most reliable, durable, versatile, hi-cap pistols on the market today; imo, it is thee best compared to all the others.

If people are so nitpicky about the grip, then they can always shave theirs down to what they like. Glock is also making Slimline and SF (Short Frame - front to back length of grip is shortened) models now; The Glock 21SF is out already, with others possibly coming out sooner than later.

After people actually gave Glock a chance, they'd get used to it, and after a while, would love it!

Difficult decision but I have to say at this time my primary purpose for a handgun is concealed carry so in a close battle between Glock and S&W I chose the S&W. It can go anywhere with minimal concealment necessary.

Now if the senario was end of the world or only one gun period and it had to be a handgun I may make a different decision.

I'd go with my Romanian Tok, as long as I can use some extra barrels.
A simple 9mm barrel change for the 7.62x25 barrel lets me shoot the widely available 9x19 Luger. Ream a second 9mm barrel out to 9x23 and you can shoot 9x23 Winchester when you really want to reach out and touch someone and let him know he has been touched. An autoloader that shoots 357 Magnum power with less recoil, smaller size and more bullets? A no brainer.
And all out of the same pistol.

Funny thing is that springfield and colt which make 1911 pistols are not even close to Glock even when put together. And SW is close because it has pistols and revolvers following.

kahr

presently I would go with my kahrs. Have two of them and neither has ever malfunctioned and I have 9800 rounds through my PM9 and 3000 through the k9. Next would be my sons G19

If I could only have one handgun for personal defense, it would have to be a revolver, have to be light enough to carry, and have to be heavy enough to control. So, either a S&W model 60 (5 shot, steel frame), or a S&W model 12 (6 shot, aluminum frame). Although, a Ruger SP101 would work just as well. If I could only have one rifle, it would be an AR15, probably a Colt HBAR circa 1970.

Only one gun?....:scrutiny: Um, yeah, well I would choose...wait....no....I...

IT CAN'T BE DONE!!! YOU ASK THE IMPOSSIBLE!!! ONLY ONE GUN?!?! BUT WE NEEDS THEM ALL!!! I MUST HAVE THEM!!! OH, THE HUMANITY!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

*Blakenzy runs off through the hallway yelling madly and pulling his hair*

I love my CZ and I love my Hk, but I think if I could only have one handgun, it would be a BHP in 9mm. Of course, I can have more, so I still don't have a BHP :D

The Smith and Wesson model 10 38 special revolver
or similar meaning M&P model
by far my favorite revolver ever and the one I am most likely to have with me.

Whatever happend to the HKs on this poll? I did not expected them get only 3.57% of the votes?

Without a solitary doubt: Walther P88C. It's beautiful, lovingly crafted, has more than adequate firepower, holds more than an adequate number of rounds, and it works every time, all the time.

I have the most experience with Glock so I chose that brand. Besides, I can get one model and the wife and kids can get other models of the same caliber and we can interchange mags!

Spieler: Good thinking about the magazines. Most people over look this but it is very important if something bad happens and even when you want to have fun on the range.

Looks like SW and Glock are in dead heat, unless one takes off until the close of the poll.

I am amazed that people picked Glcok so far the most, even when it only makes pistols. Whereas most of SW votes came from SW's revolver owners. And same goes for Ruger.
