Just picked up a Heritage Ruff Rider .22lr

Got a used heritage Rough rider .22 lr yesterday for $100. It looks to be nickel plated (or that color) and in very good shape. No box or papers. I wanted it for shooting blanks when dog training or just being able to plink with it or carry it trapping. It's either a 5.5 or 6" barrel. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.


Anyone have any experience with these. My brother bought one new not too long ago but his came with a .22 mag wheel as well.

I used to have a 6.5" blued (black spray painted ) rough rider combo. It was an excellent gun that I regret trading away. Some people have had bad experiences with them, but for only $100 bucks, I think they're worth a try. Mine was at least as accurate as a friend's Ruger Single Six and just as reliable. The trigger pull wasn't as nice (a little heavy for SA, with some creep), but it was useable. Not pretty, perhaps, but enjoyable.

The only problem I had with mine was the ejector rod housing screw needed to be tightened every 500 rounds or so. It is a good idea to remove the housing and ejector rod anyway every 500 rounds or so for cleaning. It gets pretty crudded up in there.

I bought a used one awhile ago and had some problems with it. Had a lot of misfires, 3-4 per cylinder. I don't know that I'd judge all Rough Riders by that one though. I wound up returning it and buying a Single Six.

Difference of night and day betwen a RR and s SS both in price and quality. Buy hey, life's too short to buy cheap guns.

Took it for a test fire the other day and had no misfires or any complaints. I think I have a keeper. I used it for dog training the other night. Man, those red colored blanks are loud. I need to get some green ones!

I have one I paid $125 for used with both cylinders - works great, I havent shot it alot but what I did shoot sure was fun.

I also bought one a year or so ago, $100 with both cylinders.
Noticed it was out of time. The cylinder would advance, then fall back. I had to replace the hand ($8 plus shipping), easy job, works fine. The hand is not welll made, so it could be something to watch out for in these guns.

I've had one for 4 years.
It's a great plinker.
Funny part is it's pretty accurate.
I've had a few misfires but I put that down to the ammo not the gun.
It's cheap and it's fun.
