For a quick summary I really wish this company's QA and Customer Service were better. They have a great design I really like and niche with a super sub-compact 9mm. I understand they are new to the firearms industry, being a marine company. I just hope they aren't mixing the same workers for handling both industries.

TL/DR:
Bought a brand new Diamondback DB9 Gen 4. Major issue was the new slide-lock feature was defective. Placing the gun on the shooting bench or inserting a new magazine would cause the slide to close unexpectedly.

After discussing the issue with their customer service they were set that it was the magazine follower, which I knew wasn't the case. The slide would lock back 100%, which is what the follower does, but the geometry of the slide and locking mechanism was way too shallow and caused the sensitivity problem. After trying a new magazine follower they provided for free, although they ignored my comment I had purchased and tried these already, it didn't resolve the issue. After more discussions with them I became frustrated with the service I received and modified the angle of the engagement surface on the slide + locking mechanism myself and that fixed the issue.

I'm still open to discuss this with Diamondback Firearms but unfortunately haven't had any feedback from my attempts. I'm used to dealing with Smith & Wesson, Thompson Center, North American Arms, and others even like Hi-Point Firearms and Cobra Firearms who are much more receptive to discussing issues.

Please feel free to post any positive stories you may have had with Diamondback to hopefully regain my confidence with this company. I really like their product!

I haven't had any dealings with Diamondback's customer service but I really like my compact 9mm. It's super light, very small, and shoots accurately at 12 yards. The DAO trigger is also nice. The DB-9 has replaced my Kel-Tec PF-9 which is loose, not accurate and has a worse trigger. It also is larger so it doesn't slide into my Wranglers back pocket like the DB-9 does.
I bought mine for a great price about 2 years ago.
