Just picked up a Kahr Arms P45 this afternoon. Have not taken to the range yet, but have dry fired with snap caps :D Trigger pull is long, but consistant. Need to get some night sites. Anyone know if they make higher capacity mags for this little baby? Here are a few pix.

Good luck!:uhoh: Not so much with the mag capacity, but with the ejection port....:rolleyes: How about a report after your "200 rd break-in" then you'll know what I'm referring to....:cool:

Range report

Well let me start off by saying this is a neat little .45. Packs a big punch in a thin light package. Definitely not a bullseye pistol, but the accuracy was acceptable for a CCW/personal protection pistol. I put 250rds of 230gr FMJ (200rds MAgtech, 50 rds Ultramax reloads) plus 12 HornadyJHP, distance= standard 7yrds. Not one hicup. The pistol fired everytime I pulled the looooooonnnggg trigger. The pistol will take a little getting used to and some tweaking. Mad, the brass ejected with little issues. Most were over my right shoulder and I did get some going back over my head. Never got hit though. I guess they improved that aspect. Recoil was noticable, which you would expect from a small light pistol, but managable. Double taps were consistant and in the COM circle. Take down and reassembly is a breeze. Line up the witness marks, push out the slide release, pull the trigger, and slide comes right off. Reassembly, just as easy (one tip push down slighly on the ejector pin). There are only a few things that need upgrading/improving and here is my list;

1) First thing, the trigger needs lightening to 5#s, I can deal with the long pull, but I think the weight causes me to squeeze my whole hand (as can be seen in the target). My guess is this could be done fairly easily.

2) It needs some rubber grips to cover the checkering which is pretty aggressive and gave me a small sore spot in the web of my hand.

3) Increased mag capacity. For CCW 6+1 plus a spare would be fine, but they either need to make the pistol so 1911 mag fit so I can use my 10rd mags at the range or make a 10rd mag for it.

4) Lastly, I will probably switch the sites. I'm used to the 3 dot and I find the dot vertical line harder to hold.

I'm impressed with the shootability of this little 45 and some small mods will make it even better.

Glad you like it. I was dead set on one until I handled a sample. For the price, they can keep it. I opted for the PT145. It's not that the Kahr isn't a nice piece, it's just I didn't feel it was $700 worth of nice. My honest opinion of the Kahr is that it needed to be either smaller or hold more rounds. I might still get one if they made it in stainless, but I found the polymer to be disagreeable in my hand.

But if you like it, that's what matters.

MachIV, I'd agree for $700 I would not have picked it up, got mine for ~$580. Much easier for me to stomach. ;) The polymer frame has some aggressive checkering that I'm going to cover up with Hogue Handall Jr. The trigger really needs work. Hopefully get that done real shortly.

Distra, thanks for the range report....With the finger in the tight trigger guard, did your finger experience a hard hit while the trigger reset? :scrutiny:

No. I don't remember anything like that. Trigger reset was long, but on par with my M&P. I've more issues with the M&P trigger reset than I did with the P45. The web of shooting hand has tiny blister though. I'm picking up Hogue Handall Jr on the way home tonight. :D
