I don't know if any of you are familiar with David Dawson of Dawson Precision. He is the gunsmith to the stars if the gun-dancing disciplines.
Here are his comments on the CW-9:
"“I have long searched for a high-quality, reasonably-priced carry gun and I have finally found it! This search has been driven by my friends who wanted my recommendation for a carry pistol, and for some reason think because my name is Dave Dawson I know a little about the subject. I've been building custom pistols for 20 years and I am not easily impressed. For the record, I won't recommend or sell any product I don't believe in.
First and foremost, the pistol has to be reliable. When I first started testing the CW9 I thought it was a fluke. The pistol functioned flawlessly, but I could not help but notice the tight group it was shooting. We purchased several more, I shot them all and let me tell you, it wasn't a fluke.” -Dave Dawson
Ammunition has come a long way and with 9mm +P+ ammo reaching velocities over 1300 ft/sec with excellent expansion properties, 9mm is no longer a sub-caliber defense round. The CW9 carries 8 rounds in a very controllable package.
We now offer DP Tritium and Optic sights for the CW9, and if you purchase the pistol and sights we'll install them for free. Now you can have an accurate, reliable carry pistol with DP sights for around $500.00! We even test fire and sight it in for you. "
Yes, he is promoting the gun so he can sell it and make a profit, but he could promote any gun he wanted. His endorsement means a lot to me. I have bought two STIs from him with the Dawson trigger action packages and they are first rate.
He also has some good gunsmithing videos on youtube.
