1) if you don't like Kahrs why are you reading this?
2) I have been going through carry guns and calibers for a couple of years now and am back to 9mm, I've just sold my P9 which I thought was perfect after handling a friends K9, weighs more but I think it's what I've always been looking for
3) NOW, I hear the more expensive Elite has a better trigger, if you have shot both is it worth the $$$?
Thanks,
BT

brooks,

Depends on what kind of trigger you can effectively manage.

If you can shoot a standard Glock fast and well, the regular K9 trigger will not give you too much trouble, though it must return much further forward to reset than the Glocks.

If you are spoiled for a better trigger, like the Glock's 3.5 pound with lw spring and high-polished internals... the K9 Elite will be worth the additional asking price, as it is a bit trickier to disassemble and modify than the Glock.

FWIW

I've CCW'd my K9 elite98 since it's introduction. I upgraded from the standard K9 about five years ago.

The elite trigger is worth the extra money. It is a teeny bit shorter in pull, and smooth as butter. The only thing I can compare it too is a well-tuned squirt gun of our youth.

The K9 elite is the perfect CCW package for me.....heavy enough for diminished recoil and makes it fun at the range. Very accurate, no doubt contributed by the elite trigger, which alsways 'surprises' me when it breaks. The reset is a bit longer than other pistols, but for CCW is negligable.

Get one!

:)

What you have in the Elite trigger is a reduction of pull length from 1/2" to 3/8" , mostly smoother and lighter also. The Elite 98 gun is a little more refined than the Standard SS version. It comes with a polished slide and other niceties.

Ill tell you a secret (it was until I posted it here) Wolff springs made a striker spring for the Kahr that was made for the Wilson Combat Custom
Kahrs when they came out in the mid 90's. It reduces the striker pull weight from 6 to 5 lbs. I ran one in my K40 Custom (I miss it) for A LONG TIME and it didnt miss a beat.
This is a trigger job for any non Elite Kahr which costs less than 10$ shipped. But mind you.....be very very careful in your taking apart the gun....You will loose a spring/rod assembly the first time you take it apart and its advisable to get a 3rd hand.

Shoot well

The Elite trigger is shorter and a bit smoother, but it stacks worse than the standard trigger, and it is a tad heavier. When I got my K9 Elite and started shooting it, I was kicking myself for not getting the standard trigger. However, all it took was a little practice, and now I can shoot reasonably well with it. So in the end, I'm basically indifferent, with a slight leaning towards the Elite since the pull is shorter.
