Kahr's black diamond finish?

I'm considering a PM45 with the blackened stainless or their black diamond finish I think it's cKked. For those here who have this finish how does it hold up too rust and does it scratch easily? If it scratches easily and doesn't hold up well I'll just go with their stainless. Thanks for any h

I think Kahr uses a DLC (Diamond Like Coating) for their guns. If so it's a very durable finish.
Also, they apply it over a stainless slide, not a carbon part.

Seems as though you can find the black dlc ones for less than the straight stainless.

If given the choice id go with the black dlc at a discount, i wouldn’t pay more for it

I have a blackened one and a shiny one, both bought used. The black one does have "stainless" stamped on the slide.

I don't usually prefer this kind of finish, but it seems to have held up well. It's shiny in two places near where the slide lock engages. You can just barely see that the back left corner of the slide has slight wear from rubbing against a leg or pocket a lot. That's all of the visible wear. I don't know if it was carried a lot by the previous owner or not.

My personal preference is regular stainless because there's no finish to wear off ever, but the Kahr black stuff looks pretty good on my one example.

Anything that looks like wear on this side is a trick of the light. I've managed to put three tiny scratches near the takedown pin since the picture was taken, though.

I have a K-40 all SST with black Diamond finish since 2015 no issues.
