Practice midnite draws with snap caps.

Set some alarms for odd times of night, when it goes off, grab yer snapcap pistol and go wander a bit...
Best Done when NOBODY ELSE IS HOME...
send the Wife & Kids (if ya got 'em) away for a few days to visit grandma or something...

Get a "pillow Pal" holster, they slide under the mattress to anchor to the side of the bed, only the holster and gun show, I have one for 30 years. You can attach any holster with a clip to it, thus your gun is holstered and you won't pull the trigger, also you can't see it with a fitted sheet over it or a comforter. Get one, it's the only holster that has been a constant in my 44 years of carrying. Drop hand off bed side, pull gun out of holster and fire. It's just a fiberglass flat 2 foot piece, with a 90 degree flap on the end for the holster.

Of those of you who have Glocks do you like them?
My G26 is my usual carry gun, and I shoot it very, very well. It has factory night sights and is completely stock. It usually goes in the nightstand at night.

On occasion, I'll carry my M&P Shield - with the safety off. It is effectively a skinny Glock that way. Most of the time, it goes in the safe and the G26 comes out when I get home, but not always. It's been known to spend the night in the nightstand. Sometimes a G30 or G36 will be in there. Any of the four will be ready to go bang, and will be handled accordingly.

If the grandkids are coming, every gun I'm not wearing will go in a safe. We live far enough away that they don't just drop in.

I always wonder on gun sites, when people say "Works for me" it really means nothing unless they have actually shot someone invading their home right?

I mean, I could say "This squirt gun is what I keep under the sink for grease fires, it works for me".

But if I have never put out a grease fire with my squirt gun, its all meaningless.

Just to complete the thread. I just picked up my new Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. I put about 150 rounds through it this morning and it shoots like an absolute dream. No issues at all right out of the box.

Consistent training is key. It is better to train one way than it is to train two ways.

That being said, the simplicity of striker-fired pistols like the Glock can't be beaten. But, you have already (presumably) done the hard part of getting comfortable with a DA/SA with a slide-mounted safety.

I would pick the G19 over the PX4 Compact any day (but I'm not a fan of DA/SA like yourself).

The Walther PPQ is superior to either pistol imho.

I carry a G19 in a g-code incog appendix carry holster and it is almost too big. I live in FL so I'm thinking about going to a Springfield XDS or Walther PPS for summer carry. I still need to experiment with buying button-downs and maybe adjusting my holster's cant.

Finally, make sure you buy a gun that can carry the most bullets that you can still actually conceal... all the time.

I apologize... I didn't see that you already bought the PX4 Compact.
