I just bought a P-11 and am now patiently waiting for the government to approve me (UGH I get held three days evertime I purchase a handgun). Just looking for stories of things to watch for (break in period..jamming etc...)
Maybe some shooting or ammo tips.
I have been shooting a SIG 229 and dont expect that kind or performance from the Kel-Tec. Dont even know why i bought it other than I love how compact it is.

TIA

www.ktog.org: more than you ever wanted to know about the P-11 and its siblings.

The P-11 makes a good carry arm when carrying a larger firearm is difficult or impossible. It greatly benefits from a fairly easy but time-consuming polish job, and extensive dry-firing will dramatically improve your performance with it- and your performance with most other handguns with shorter/lighter triggers!

I have a P-11 and a P-40 kit. It has been a reliable firearm for me. The recoil in 9mm is sharpish and uncomfortable in 40 S&W. The only safety is the trigger pull and it is long and takes some learning, but it is possible to learn this trigger just as it is in any DAO J-Frame sized revolver. From an accuracy standpoint, mine is fussy about ammo, Gold Dot 124 hollow points shoot best for me, and shot best for Gun Tests magazine when they tested the gun. It is made to stand up to the plus loads, but regular factory loads in the 40 is all I want to shoot. I wore out a P3-AT (and the factory replaced it) but the P-11 has just kept chugging along.

It does get a lot better with a "fluff and buff" and a lot of dry firing.

Mine broke twice and had to go back to the factory, so I sold it.

You can use S&W 59 series 15 round magazines in it if you want to shoot longer between reloads.

Good luck!

This should not be happening anymore!
HB347 blew away local gun purchase laws. After 3/14/07 you should be able to just buy it.

I did a mild F&B on my KT P11, when I got it. I installed a trigger shoe and a trigger stop. Made a world of difference.

Whirlwind, sometimes the feds decide to do a more "in depth" background check and will hold a sale for a couple days. It's not a local issue.

I had a KT P-11. I fluffed it, put a Houge Handall Jr. and a pencil eraser trigger stop. That helped me out a lot! Plus, the pinky extensions are awesome. I sold it to my father so I could purchase a SW J-Frame.

I sold my 642-2 to buy my P-11 thqat i carry
now as a BUG to my 3" GP-100.It has been
100% reliable so far (600 rounds) shoots to
POA with my carry and practice ammo and
fits better in my pocket than the j frame.

I haven't done a fluff/buff on it because it
didn't need one,i did trim back the end of
the trigger slightly for a better fit with
my finger. The first time i fired 50 rds thru
it i ended up with a blood blister on my
trigger finger, today i fired 100 rds with no
problems with my finger.I have a hogue
handall grip sleeve on mine and it seems
to reduce felt recoil, maybe it makes the
pistol fit my hand better bit it does work.

I bought a P-11 and it didn't need any "fluff and buff" either. Its works great. I had a few teething problems until I figured out what ammo it liked though. I feed it a regular diet of UMC 115gr JHP and Corbon DPX and it works great. Zero malfunctions with those two types of ammo. It won't feed Hydrashoks worth diddly though and WWB doesn't group well with it.
