I have a new Kel-Tec P-32. It shoots great for a small 32. I am talking 7 rounds in 3" at 7 yards. The only thing that bothers me is the plastic guide rod. It looks real cheap, but it seems to work. Has anyone tried a steel guide rod? What were your results? Thanks

Back when I used to frequent KTOG, I seem to recall more issues with the steel rods than the plastic ones. Stick with the plastic, nothing to worry about.

I have an early P-32 that I've put many rounds through for the last 9 years, and the plastic rod has held up fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

i can speak from trying the metal rod to replace the plastic one on the p11.....don't do it....gpr

I carried a P-32 for years. Plastic guide rod? If the P-32 has a weakness, it's not the guide rod.

The weakest area for the P-32 in my opinion is the slide-stop spring that's just wedged down in the soft plastic grip. If that thing moves around, it can stop the gun. And it will move around if you don't support the side of that soft plastic grip when you pull out the assembly pin.

Keep the plastic here is why:

The guide rod is only there to keep the springs from smushing up.

A metal guide rod can not flex like a plastic one, so in a small compact like the P32, the metal guide rod CAN peen the guide rod hole.

I've heard about reliability issues after changing to a metal guide rod. That sucker needs to flex. Keep the plastic one.

The only thing that makes a P-32 better is a pocket clip so you can carry it butt forward in the pocket. Looks like a knife or a multi-tool. I use the left side pocket clip, and carry it in my right front pocket. It makes the P-32 an "Always with you" item.
