I was in a shop the other day, and the owner had a Kel Tec PMR 30 on the shelf, brand new. It looked pretty nice, felt good. The shop owner told me he cant sell them. He said that he tells people how it is, and that the PMR 30 had a shoddy record of being unreliable. He wouldnt stand behind it. I plan on checking it out. I haven't read a lick on them, so I will be doing so as I wait for Amy to show up.
Anyone have any experiences? I couldn't tell you the date of manufacture on this one. the price on it was $399

I think there was a recall at one point, and lots of reports of them going back to FL to be repaired, and lots of ammo sensitive complaints too.

I know one person who has one, it was failure prone at first, was returned for repair, and has been running well since it was returned.

If it was me, I'd probably ask if he could drop the price any, and then buy it.

Kel Tec puts out firearms that are usually innovative, but not always QCd enough. They do have a good reputation for correcting problems owners encounter.

What, is he trying to be a commercial martyr? Why order one in if he doesn't wish to sell it?

The price is a bit high, IMO, but they're incredibly fun guns. I'm not giving mine up.

I got to shoot a friend's PMR 30 last week (along with his AR-50, talk about going from the ridiculous to the sublime.)

He is on his second barrel, the first fed, fired, and functioned but was so rough that accuracy was nil and fouling was heavy. The replacement does just fine. Operation with CCI 30 gr was reliable and accuracy about as good as I can hold such a lightweight pistol. Recoil was noticeable, muzzle blast and flash severe. Which seems to be a positive note to a certain sort of person.
I don't know its niche. People whine "why don't they make a 30 shot long rifle" because WMR is fairly expensive. I thought of it as a non-enthusiast defense weapon but then wondered if a non-enthusiast would master Condition 1 readiness.

Own one, love it! :D
$399 is currently a good price.
If the GS can't sell it have him post over on the Kel-Tec forum.
Will sell it three times over :what:

I have read that Kel-Tec is working on a RMR (rifle) based on the PMR.
(I want one.... )

Yes, the first ones had some issues but Kel-Tec fixed them. Current ones have been good, just a little picky with some ammo.

I would buy one again...:neener:

Lateck,

So....""why don't they make a 30 shot long rifle"???

That's the only way I would buy one, and buy one I would.

Because the shorter LR case doesn't play nice in magazines like the PMR-30's. That's why you pretty much only see 10 round mags in .22 LR pistols. I can't think of any that hold more.
