I'm thinking of getting a Kel_Tek Sub 2000. I had a chance to shoot the 9mm version (Glock mags) and was impressed with the accuracy. Any have one in .40 S&W? How is it? I don't have anything in .40 S7W but have a bunch of pistols in 9mm.

How is ammo cost compare between the 9mm and 40?

Thanks in advance!

Generally, .40 S&W is about the same as .45 ACP. Expect to pay around $10-$12 for a box of 50 FMJ's and $18-$22 for 20 factory JHP's. Basically, $.40-$1.00 per round is possible.

I have the Sub2000 in .40 cal. It's very reliable. The sights are horrible though. I just sent mine back to Keltec because it shot 6" left with the sights adjusted as far as it would go. :uhoh: Of course it's under warranty. Eventually I'm going to replace the sights with either a red dot sight or the AR type sight from blueforcegear.

If I didn't already have a pile of Glock 22 magazines and 40 ammo I would've bought the 9mm instead since plinking ammo is half as much $.

I had one... it was ok. Hard to use the sights.... I ended up selling it at a gun show though. Got for it, you 'll probably like it. 9mm is alot cheaper to shoot though.

I bought a Sub2000 recently and chose 9mm. 9mm is cheaper to shoot and I bought mine to plink with. You say you have lots of 9mm pistols...a consideration may be to buy a sub2000 that is compatible with one of your pistols. That is, the sub2000 in 9mm you purchase uses magazines from one and only one of the following guns: Glock 17, Glock 19, Beretta 92, S&W 59 or Sig 226. You chose the model. I got the Glock 17 compatible model because I had plenty of 10 and 17 round magazines and also a G18 magazine with 31 round capacity...great for serious plinking.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll go with the 9mm version. I have a Beretta 92FS so getting a Kel-Tec that takes those mags is the way to go. I see there are 92FS 30 round mags availble for $18-20. Much less than the Glock mags.
