The Kinnie
Wagner Story

If you enjoy history, humor and nostalgia, you will love this book. Taken from a continuing series of newspaper features about the days of the famed outlaw and prison escapee who was known for 30 years s the most deadly shot in the South. Told in a rambling first person style that incorporates much local color and contains many humorous situations to give a poignant picture of small town life in the mid 20th Century, the Kinnie Wagner Story is nonetheless accurate and detailed concerning the shootings, trials and escapes that spread over more than 30 years. No collections of mostalgia or Southern history is complete without this one! Only $19.95.

Thank you very much, dang my eye are tore up reading and searching,I am so lame at it,be ordering it in a little while.

How did you do that?

The book I refered you to is I believe a compilation of articles that appeared in the Daily News several years ago. They were very interesting.

About 20 years ago a friend of mine researched the archives of the Kingsport Times News at the Kingsport Public Library and got a lot of newspaper strories written at the time of Kinnies notoriety. You would need the dates to find the stories. Maybe they will be in the book I refered you to.

As a side note, my uncle once picked up Kinnie hitchhiking near Ft. Blackmore, VA and took him to Dungannon, VA and did not know who he was until he let him out.

Kinnie Wagner

Kinnie was my uncle...I have many documents...1st hand accounts from my relatives...including my aunt that was at the Holston river that day for the picnic...with recordings from jail and the FBI most wanted...if truly interested in the truth you may contact [email protected]

Kinnie Wagner

I'm a distant cousin of Kinnie Wagner and have some published material and oral family histories. I tried to e-mail one of the posters and the address was bad. I'm from Hawkins County, Tenn., but now live in Kingsport.

Wagner Book

There was also another book " THE GUNS OF KINNIE WAGNER " long out of print. I've seen one in the special collections section in the library.
My father saw him as at Parchman Prison, but I don't know the year. He said he had unusually long arms and was working with a german shepard, teaching him to untie ropes.
He seems to remember a time when he was released from prison for a time and stayed with a relitive near Sturgis Ms.,but was returned to Parchman.
