I had a custom Hawken built for myself some years back and the same thing happened to me. I paid for premium wood and all the goodies, only to find that the barrel channel had been hogged out crudely and filled with bedding compound. I returned it and was granted a full refund.

Stony, was that rifle made by Matt Avance also?

Those trade guns in .62 can be a lot of fun. Shooting clays with them can be a real challenge. I have shot one deer and a couple hogs with mine. I tired of the long barrel and finally shortened it up to sort of a canoe gun with a 24" barrel, just for something different.

I had my French Fusil De Chasse made with a 33" barrel. That is more in keeping with the Fur Trade guns. Yes the .62/20 Ga. smooth guns are very practical to this day. It can take out a Ring Neck or a deer.

It was made by a builder working with The Gun Works out of Oregon. I must say, they stand by their products and do what's necessary to back up their products. Good outfit

I had them build a flint lock pistol years ago. They do good work.

I see. I checked their (TVM) prices and looks like they're up to $900 or so.

Hell, I turned an $800 TOTW Jaeger "kit" into a $600 rifle. Just sayin.
