I've been in the market for a 1911. The SR1911 is set up almost exactly how I would like, but the are rare as hen's teeth.

I have a line on a Kimber Classic Stainless. This is the pre-series II gun. The only thing I don't like are the forward cocking serrations.

The gun is in good shape mechanically, but has some weird surface spots that look like faint rust, but could be dried and crusted on lube. It's also has a Yonkers roll mark. The price on the tag is $999, but I would bet the shop owner will go down to $800 based on past dealings.

What do you guys think? What's a decent price for this gun?

$800-$1000 sounds steep for a Kimber that very well may have some surface rust, pre-Series II Yonkers marked or not. At that price point, I'd say go get yourself a Springfield Range Officer or pinch pennies for a few more months and get yourself a Les Baer Thunder Ranch sans front cocking serrations.
