Hello all, I occasionally see informal matches set up that are rimfire only, but more like a PRS style match. Locally, a few clubs have started discussion on similar type matches and it seems like this rifle would be perfect for a match where the shooter will transition from prone to standing to sitting etc...I've been looking for some time trying to find a Kimber SVT 22LR. When Kimber still made rimfires, it seemed that most who owned them loved them.

I have always had a fondness for rimfires, but somehow, this particular model has never made it's way into my safe. Do any of you have experience with the SVT? I'd like to hear the pros and cons of it as I'm actively trying to find one for sale.

Chris

Chris, no experience with the SVT nor rimfire match shooting. I do own a Yonker's Custom Classic - gorgeous wood. superb trigger, flawless fit/ finish - topped with Leupold glass. The rifłe will shoot ragged, one hole groups at 50 yards with most off-the-shelf .22 ammo - it shoots much better than I can. I would imagine that a similar rifłe model such as an SVT will shoot as well or better - Kimber made a great (albeit), expensive .22 rifłe in that day - hard to find Kimber .22 models in good shape at a less than inflated prices. Good luck with your quest.

Thanks Steve! I think I've located an SVT, so hopefully, in the next week or so, I'll get to find out if it can hang with the others in the safe!

I have one. What is your question?

Saleen, what kind of accuracy do get out of yours? Also, what ammo have you found shoots best for yours? I've always been curious to find out what type of chamber the SVT's have as well.

I believe these were made to directly compete with the Anschutz MS Silhouette rifle. I think they have very good accuracy but not a bench rest gun. I have not put a lot of high end ammo through it like RW R50, Lapua Midas or Eley Tenex but it shoots very well with middle of the road RWS Target Rifle. I also have some good luck with SK Standard Plus (also sold as Wolf Match-Target). Here is a target shot with RWS Target.

Great shooting! Mine should be here on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to shooting it.
