How do you like those grips?
Very comfortable. They make a big difference with .357 loads. I have a size S hand and they fit at the upper end of fine. I tried VZ and Altamont. These are by far the best for control and recoil.
With the others I can fire unlimited .38 and 2-3 cylinders of .357 before reaching my limit. with these I can fire unlimited .357 with no discomfort.

My wife, daughter, and DIL all received K6S 2" with laser grips as gifts/bought in their names. They all love them and are carrying the Winchester Ranger 38 Special +P 130 grain Bonded Hollow point - RA38B in them.

Does the grip change the "natural point of aim" at all for you? I was looking at them on Kimber's site the other day and it looked like they might.

Short answer: yes
Long answer: I tried 4 different grips on this gun. Stock smooth wood (probably Altamont Altai), Altai checkered, VZ and these Control Core Grips.
Each grip type had its own point of aim. None were a problem to adjust to. kind of like 1911s with straight vs arched backstraps.
The Control Core Grip is my overall favorite in feel and function. They are made by Crimson Trace. Most of the grip is high traction shock absorbing polymer with smooth hard polymer as a cap on the heel to prevent binding on a cover garment and side inserts at the top of the grip to assist in speedloader functionality on the left and for esthetic balance on the right.

I just picked up the 3inch DASA. Love it. I’m amazed at how nice it is. I like the wood geips but I have a set of hogue grips coming as well as a couple of holsters.

I have no complaints other than I wish all the grips would fit universally. Not sure why Kimber did it that way. Maybe the difference in dasa vs dao? Still it’s a minor gripe because I won’t really swap grips much anyway. I love the K6s

You will love it Voodoo, when you get your setup in post a few pictures for us or rather for me as I do not tire of seeing the K6s.

The adjustable sights were back in stock so I ordered a set. The rear has a set-screw to keep it in the dovetail so I figured that would be easy enough. The front has a roll pin, and the new sight needs to be drilled. Wasn't really sure how I was going to hold that for the drill press though.

I started on the rear by pulling the set-screw all the way out, then tried to drift it out with a brass punch. It wouldn't budge. So I decided to fall back and regroup, give the front a go. I don't have a roll pin punch that small.

So, it was on to plan B - call the gunsmith. smiley_abused.gif

Took the whole mess over to him and dropped it off after work last night. He said he'd have it done by lunch so I could come back after work today to get it. I called at lunch and he says, "I ran into a little problem..." icon_smile_shock.gif

Seems the rear wouldn't budge for him either, and he wanted the go-ahead to destroy the rear sight to get it out. I told him to go ahead.

I called after work and he said it was done. He had to saw the rear sight down close to the gun and let it collapse on itself, and the new one needed fitting.

But it's done. I'm pleased with the project overall, just the expense was a bit much. The front is a fiber rod and the rear is adjustable. I imagine it might bother someone that plans to thumb the safety back often, but it still works for that too.

I put the Hogues on mine, and ordered a set of adjustable sights. I'll post up a picture when it's finished.

The Hogues look good, looks like the hand is wellmprotected from the backstrsp - how is the shooting compared to the original grips? I know I want new/different grips, not sure if I want the walnut combat grips or the Hogues...

I didn't really like the way the original grips positioned my hand- hard to explain but the trigger pull had a lot of 'up' vs straight back if that makes sense.

The Hogues are a must-buy for this gun in my opinion. I love the way the wood looks, but the Hogues just feel so much better.

I put enough rounds through the gun this weekend to get it too hot to touch- and that's not a lot of rounds. I adjusted the sights for the Buffalo Bore short barrel 357 mag rounds I'll be carrying. They're stout but easily manageable.

Well, you could use the Kimber DASA 3 inch as your primary concealed carry gun with the S&W as a back-up gun. Loading the Kimber with the same .38 special load in the S&W Airweight would give you ammunition compatibility. Your Colt KC Target probably doesn't conceal as well as the Kimber DASA 3 inch will. Just some thoughts...
You sound like the red demon that sits on my left shoulder! Same thinking process…

I've already got a 2" and with all the positive comments on the 3" I almost got one but decided I probably wouldn't carry it, so I went for the 4" Combat engraved... besides being pretty, it too is better balanced than the 2" and as several have mentioned the seems to shoot the full house 357 more comfortably 2" is quite brutal ... 38's are just pussycats

^^^^^Nice-looking revolver! So is that going to be carried regularly or be a safe queen?

Sure is pretty! Post some targets when you get a chance. I’ll bet it’s dead on at 25yds.

I know revolver guru Grant
Cunningham was a chief
consultant in its design.
Hence so Rugerish/Smithish
yet distinctive when first
introduced as a DAO gun.

I recommend his book
"GunDigest Book of the
Revolver" if you haven't
already gotten a copy.

The book features one of his
customized Ruger GP100
3-inch models.
