It's not just about shooting X number of rounds to your satisfactory as far as reliability, it's also about being comfortable with the gun.I checked several times after removing the magazine and locking the slide to make sure the pistol was clear. And as for the firing part, that's why I was out shooting tonight lol. And this confirms why shooting prior to carrying is paramount!
I have my own doubts on whether ANYONE can really get comfortable with a 'new to them' gun in a mag or two, some may claim otherwise.
My latest "small gun" that I bought a little over a month ago has about 150rds through it. I will probably put another 200 or so through it before I carry it. Honestly I'm sold on the cycling/reliability of it right now at 150rds, but I want more time shooting with it.
All guns shoot different and you need to make sure you can hit better than the broad side of a barn more than once before you decide to carry it.
