Since Kimber's website sucks and doesn't list specifications can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is between these two pistols? For the life of me I can't figure out what it is, other than the different grips and magazine they come with, but that certainly shouldn't be a $250 price difference.

I was at my local gunstore today looking for a Tactical Pro II, and since they didn't have one I checked out a Pro Carry II with night sights that was $711. It was very nice and I really am thinking about getting one now since the cheaper price is appealing. So is there really any difference between the two or are you just paying for the "tactical" name??

Tactical Pro has a lighter, alloy frame (nice magwell, too). As I recall, it's only a few ounces difference in weight. I can vouch for the fact that it's an excellent carry piece (mine is quite accurate and 100& reliable).

And I can vouch for the Pro Carry II. Mine has night sights as well. I carry it in a Galco IWB holster all the time. I use Wilson Combat mags instead of the original Kimber mag. The plastic followers wont beat up your frame like the metal ones will.

BTW, I got mine on gunbroker for $550 :D

I'm going to guess that the Tac Pro has front strap checkering, a mag well and different finish than the Pro Carry.

Lennyjoe, did you read Donald Trump's book "Art of the Deal" or something? Congratulations on a great price.

I have a Pro Carry, but added Meprolight sights to it. Didn't think I'd like front strap checkering, but my Eclipse changed my mind.

Here's some pictures of both models that are probably larger than what you'll find on Kimber's website: the Tactical Pro , and the Pro Carry II .

Either way you go, it's a good decision.

Nope, just noticed the pistol didnt sell for the starting price of $600 so I emailed the seller and offered $550.

He took the offer. :D

The differences are:
Pro Carry II frame is matte black anodized, Tactical Pro frame is gray anodized.
Tactical Pro has 30 lpi front strap checkering, Pro Carry has none.
Both have steel black oxide slides. Both have the same barrel.
Tact Pro has night sights, Pro Carry fixed black sights.
Pro Carry has black rubber grips, Tact Pro has silver and black logo laminate grips.
Pro Carry has the regular Kimber trigger, Tact. Pro has their "Premium" Trigger (has nothing to do with trigger pull, just the type of cutouts on the trigger.) Tact Pro has an "unblended" extended magwell.
Tact Pro also has the ambi safety.

Now I'm almost blind from reading the little dots on the Kimber spec. sheet. ;)

The Pro Carry that I looked at came with night sights.

Many thanks for the info guys! I think after seeing just exactly what the differences are the Pro Carry is definately the way to go. No need to fork out an extra 2-300 dollars for those few extras that don't even really matter to me. :)

That model is called.......Pro Carry II/Night Sights. Other than the finish color, if you were to add the features of the Tactical Pro to the Pro Carry/NS at Kimber prices, the cost would be about $380.
