I've been bragging for over 2 yrs now how dependable and nice to shoot my old 2003 polymer frame Kimber BP Pro Ten II is. Or should I say was. Lately the slide stops with the round only about 1/2 way in. The ramp is clean. I'd hoped it was just the cheap Win. Range rounds I've been using but I have the same problem with other rounds just not as often. Could it be that I've finally fired so many rounds through it that I need to change out a spring or other parts? It's been so dependable (except with Gold Dot HP's) and it ate Hornadys like a kid eating candy. (expensive candy) Guess it's time for a trip to the local GS. Occassionally it doesn't seem to be feeding properly from the mag. Would be nice if it were something cheap and easy to fix. There's just no way for me to know how many rounds went through it before I bought it. Any ideas on things I may check before taking it to the GS, Or should I just bite the bullet and admit that it may be a worn spring or something serious? One thing for sure....it's no longer one of my carry guns. I miss it. Practiced enough I got pretty accurate.

I agree that you should replace the recoil spring before doing anything else. They are not expensive and need replacing after firing so many rounds depending on the model you have. I change mine every 1500 rounds. If this fails to correct problem, I would then go to a good gunsmith to resolve issue.

I'd focus on magazine springs right now as this is a feed issue. While your Kimber may have had a few feed issues with specific ammo when you bought it, it should not require a brand new recoil spring to feed, if it does it is masking another problem.

Another thing to look at would be the chamber area making sure everything is clean in there and not preventing smooth feed.

Does this model have an external extractor? If so (and even if it's an internal) it may need cleaning...there could be some crud preventing it from opening as it should to slip around the rim...followed by mag springs or maybe just a good mag cleaning...and then maybe a recoil spring...best I can do without seeing it in person...

Thanks all. Been really busy. Not knowing how much it was fired before I bought it makes me think it may be a good idea to replace the springs as suggested. For now my G 23 is working and I have an old model S&W rev. to pay for....Christmas is almost here, so I'll have to "retire" the kimber for a few weeks. At least now I have a plan.
