Sorry if this has already been covered, but I haven't seen it yet...

Looks like we may be able to take pocket knives on flights again soon. Is anybody else excited about this, or am I the only looser that would rather travel without underwear than without a handy little cutting tool? (please forgive the gratuitous mental picture:eek: )

Now if we can just get CCW in the air, all will be well with the world.

Good point. Guess I should read more carefully. I've seen several reports today that were much more ambiguous, but that was the first one I found when I decided to post.

Besides a knife is just a tool, right? The FAA will be reasonable, right?....(crickets)....RIGHT?

Maybe I could still get my mini leatherman onboard (the type that unfolds into scissors instead of pliers...)

Another dream crushed.

Sources quoted by the paper say the new rules will allow things like scissors in carry-on bags. The reasoning is that such items are no longer regarded as the greatest threat to airline security.

when were scissors ever considered the 'greatest threat'? lol

No, you are not alone in that!! I would rather travel without underware, than a sharp little friend!! I sure do miss being able to take a knife on a plane!!

The greatest threat to airport security is the idots they hire. Need to do away with this new gov. welfare plan.

No! The greatest threat to airport security is the paranoid blissninnies who may want us to fly naked (hey, what a concept:D ) because they fear that ANYTHING brought aboard by a passenger can be used by a terrorist.

If everyone on the 911 flights had been armed, things would have turned out better.

I think the greatest threat to airport security is their own lack of knowledge regarding what is allowed and what isn't.

or what IS a weapon and what can be USED AS a weapon.
